Hi, Vind is missing a popular mental sport in Estonia - Bridge. I have thought about implementing it, talked to Estonian Bridge enthusiasts, but the question has always been - would it be popular enough in our country? I will write down some thoughts that I have on this topic: 1) You can never play the same hand twice in Vind. Maybe all the hands and the users who played them should be saved in a database. 2) We do not generate and rate the hands in advance. New (random) hands are always generated automatically in tournaments and in the game room when there is no hand that no one has played before. 3) In bridge, you get a rating in Vind in two ways - always in tournaments. In the game room only when there is a hand that no one at your table has played but which has been played to the end at least 3 times - so that there are reference results on the basis of which it is decided which pair played better. 4) This means that in the beginning (the first few months) you probably will not be able to play for a rating in the game room. The rating would only change in tournaments. Would anyone be interested in that?

Why invent a bicycle? Bridgebase.com works night and day. I'm afraid that the lifelong problem of this bridge room will be the lack of company.

It's really hard to learn bridge here, even if it's enjoyable.....then who is the partner...what bidding system to use.......in light of all this, I would offer a badass bridge as an introduction...a game of three, each for themselves, one hand remains on the table, the winner of the bid remains to play, the defenders form a defensive pair, the bid could be 1000, but after the pass, you can still bid

The long-awaited day has arrived - you can play Bridge on the Vint.ee portal!
True - at the moment you can only practice field play, but that's not all:

Since Bridge is a fairly complex game and the writer here is not very good at it, I decided to divide the realization of Bridge into stages.

Stage I - Learning to play out
Let's start with this. why bring Bridge Vint at all - it's to teach people how to play this game, right? You can play the game alone: You and your partner's cards are dealt to you, you have to choose a contract and then play it out.
And it's already working on Vint right now! Go and try it: https://www.vint.ee/et-ee/games/#bridž
This functionality can definitely be improved as well:
  • For example, the computer could play better. One specific idea: When taking a trick on the last hand, you could use the smallest possible card (not the largest as is the case now)
  • Ranking "Best Players" - Would you take the average number of points played? This would motivate you to choose the highest possible contract and also play it out accurately so as not to get any disadvantages.
  • Any more thoughts?

Stage II - Playing with the computer
In stage II, there is a full game with the computer (you can only play alone) - the computer is also a partner, there is a bidding and then a play-off.
The tricky part here is programming all the bidding logic. I'm going to implement a beach square bidding system and then try to teach people and help them choose the right bid (and explain what the computer's bids mean).
I don't want to give any deadlines for this (I should finish Stage I first), but maybe there will be something by the start of school!

Stage III - 4-player game
At this stage, the table is created, 4 people play, tournaments take place, people get a vint.ee Bridge rating, etc. When? Well, we hope it will be there by the end of the year!

Any feedback is welcome!

There is also now a "Top Players" leaderboard, which ranks players by their average game score .
You have to play 10 games to get into the rankings.

In addition, I'm going to update tonight where anyone who leaves the game (if a contract has been selected) will receive a penalty of -250 points. This is to prevent people from simply leaving the game when they see that the contract cannot be played. Now you still have to play to the end, then you will get fewer minuses.

I posted an update - there is now a checkmark under the settings in the game board: "Play forced moves automatically". I recommend using it for experienced players!

Starting today, your handouts will be saved, you can replay them, and by practicing your handout in the game room, you can see what results others have achieved with the same handout!

Today you can also try playing on the computer, so we have reached stage 2.

Yes, the computer bids poorly and plays out the contract even worse, but that's the point - we need people to play and give feedback - that's how we can make the game better.
Yesterday, for example, we received information that the scoring during the counterattack was incorrect.
Please note that the game is still in alpha stage, so there may be serious bugs.

Another positive is that there is not much time left until the 4-player game in the game room, so we may see a 4-player game within a week!
