The Estonian Mind Games Championship for Pairs has just ended. It was played in Karepa, at the Kullo Youth Camp of the Kullo Recreation Center. A total of 17 pairs, or 34 mind games enthusiasts, participated in the competition. After a break of a few years, members of the Vindi team, Marten Meikop and Tiit Vunk, were present (as some of the favorites). Most of the other competitors came from the mind games camp currently taking place in Karepa. The five disciplines that have become classics in the last decade were played - sudoku, chess, bridge, gomoku and checkers. The level of Sudoku was extremely high, with Timo Ilu and Tauri Purk taking first place for Marten and Tiidu. In Chess, Emil Laanemets - Magnus Murumaa achieved a very solid victory, somewhat surprisingly. In Bridge, Eino Vaher - Viktor Mestilainen were slightly more confident than Martin Hõbemägi - Kuno Kolgi. In Gomokus 3 very strong pairs scored equal points - Hõbemägi-Kolk; Villem Mesila - Georg-Romet Topkin; Timo Ilu - Tauri Purk, but the odds ranked them as shown. In Checkers Vaher - Mestilainen took their second defeat, but overall it gave them 4th place with 128 points. In the overall standings, Hõbemägi - Kolk, who performed the most consistently, came first with 151 points, eventually beating Meikop - Vunki by a fairly safe 11 and Mesila-Topkin by 18 points. The best women's pair was Kristina Mumm - Hanna-Kai Reimand.
