Hello,

The Mental Sports Olympiad is over for this academic year and it's time to take stock.
Let's start with chess, but before that, I would like to mention again that we had to make all rankings closed, meaning you must be logged in to the vint.ee portal to see them. This was a requirement of the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (so that search engines cannot index children's real names). Hopefully, all interested parties (I mean school principals and teachers) will be able to quickly and conveniently create a vint.ee username.

Now the chess results.
528 students played chess this year. That's 14 students more than last year!

Primary school results
194 students played chess in the elementary school. Aron Sild from Tartu Variku School won decisively (4 out of 4 stage wins). Lennart Reintam from Tallinn Science School took second place with 280 points, and Igor Kharkhan from Tallinn Central Russian Gymnasium came in third.
Among the schools, Tallinn Science School was the best, represented by 30 students in this age group.

Elementary school results
272 students played chess at the elementary school. The competition for first place was extremely tight: the top 4 were within 7 points!
The winner was Dion Krivenko from Tallinn Õismäe Russian Lyceum, who scored 287 points. Karl Mattias Kokk from Tartu Private School came in second with 285 points, and Rondo Mikko from Pärnu Mai School came in third, with 284 points.
Among the schools, Jüri Gymnasium was the best.

High school results
60 students played chess in the gymnasium. Emil Laanemets from Gustav Adolf Gymnasium won, who won two tournaments and collected 295 points. Mirko Lainevool from Jüri Gymnasium also won two tournaments and 292 points, taking second place. Vladislav Dubov from Tallinn Central Russian Gymnasium took third place, who collected 282 points.
In the school category, Tallinn Central Russian Gymnasium won!

Congratulations to the best and thank you to everyone for participating! I would also like to thank the virtual judge of the competitions, Andre Uibos !
Named medals and trophies will be delivered to schools no later than May!

Have a beautiful spring,
Marten Meikop
