Hey, I had an idea and a small need that maybe we could add online training functionality to the game. This would significantly ease the work of those who want to engage in one or another game at a sports level. I will put a description of the functionality I have compiled below, which all interested parties can then comment on: Explanation The following description is based on the specifics of checkers, but in many ways it can probably also be used for other board games. Goal There are currently 17 checkers clubs in Estonia, which primarily need premises and the time of coaches to carry out club activities. One of the largest checkers clubs, Lasnamäe Male-Kabeklubi, does not currently have separate premises for training at all, and therefore an agreement must always be reached with schools to conduct training. Many other clubs certainly have the same problem. There is also a problem in finding suitable training times for children, and if the training rooms are located far from home, this in turn reduces the motivation of parents to drive their children to and from training two or three times a week. Therefore, the goal of this development would be to enable coaches to provide their club's children with training conditions as similar as possible to real training in an online environment. Conditions • Restrictions – It must be possible to limit the access of interested parties to different training sessions according to the coaches' wishes. At the same time, it should also be possible to organize so-called public training sessions, which anyone who wishes can join as students. • Roles – two roles have been defined in the training environment. o Coach – only one user in one training room, who has the following rights:  Communicate with students in the training room  Add students to the training room  Remove students from the training room  Place and let students place different positions on the game board for analysis (with the possibility of moving pieces of both colors and undoing moves from a given position). The same should apply to reviewing games. It should be possible to move and analyze games by moving both opponents' pieces from the beginning (analysis would be done through communication in the chat window).  Place combinations on the game board for solving (place a position and let students solve and show combinations over time). The combination should become visible to students after placement and by pressing the “make public” button.  Have students play and comment with each other and, if necessary, stop games to analyze positions. The coach must also have the right to undo moves (the position is switched from game mode to analysis mode and vice versa).  Play with the student himself and, if necessary, stop the game to analyze the positions. The coach must have the right to undo moves.  End the training and close the training room.  Forbid students from talking in the chat window.  Add training time to the calendar similarly to tournaments (a'la international checkers training for children of the Lasnamäe club - coach Mari Part - duration 1.5 hours) o Student - possible one or more users in one training environment.  Communicate with other users in the training room  Move the pieces in the analyzed position if the coach has given permission. This could happen on the so-called hand-raising principle - that is, the student presses a button to express his wish, after which the coach will see a green notification light behind the corresponding student, by clicking on which the coach can give the student the right to move the pieces himself.  Show solutions to the tasks set by the coach. If so-called problem-solving competitions are organized, then after the coach has made the score public with the press of a button, the student who solves the given problem the fastest can present the solution. The time spent on the solution could also be measured. The student must move the buttons of both colors themselves (there are no automatic moves, etc.). After presenting the solution, the coach should be able to declare the solution correct or incorrect with the press of a button (in case of incorrectness, the original problem is returned). You should also think about who would have the rights to organize the training sessions at all. It is probably not a good idea to give permission to organize training sessions to all users. Either define the coaches by submitting a separate application to the vint.ee team or somehow the other way around.

A very serious topic. And quite interesting, too. But at this point, we probably need to continue to develop this topic...who knows, maybe something will come of it.

This topic was raised for this purpose, so that it could be discussed.

It's pretty pointless, because there are several computer programs that already have such functions. Secondly, if clubs move online, then the idea of a club will disappear altogether, because playing at a table is another thing that develops even more than online, such as the visual perception of the table and the placement of buttons. However, I think if a player like Kaido Külaots came here to teach, then some would even be willing to pay for it.

It took 9 years from idea to implementation, but now we have a checkers training environment! What functionality is currently available: 1) First, a separate coach role. The coach can infinitely a) organize tournaments b) create user groups c) create training rooms d) enter checkers tasks. 2) In the training room, you can a) Create one training table that everyone can see and where only the coach can move the pieces on the table. The table can also be created by importing a game. b) Have students solve tasks and see the results of solving the tasks in the table below. In the coming weeks, there will be more: 1) The ability to create a personal table for a student, which others can also watch from the side, but where only the coach and the student can move the pieces 2) Creating a training table when importing a task And by the fall, there could also be a simple option to create a call in the training room. At some point, I will also make an instructional video to give an overview of the functionality - maybe chess players will have some ideas :)

Estonian folk wisdom also says that it's better to be late than found :)
