all users should be able to choose the number of rounds in their tournaments (e.g. 6-13 rounds)

The current draw system is a mess if there are few participants. In a tournament where there were 6 participants and no one left, 3 rounds could be played. With up to 8 participants, the tournament could be in a round robin system. Then it wouldn't happen that it suddenly ends. You can't immediately do the same tournament again. If this round robin system is not possible, then it could be possible to organize 2 tournaments of the same game type on the same day.

good idea. I even think that a round robin system would be better with 10 participants. If there are 5 or fewer participants, then maybe you could even do 2 rounds in a round robin system? Another thing is the optimal number of rounds in the Swiss system. Mathematically (geometrically) it is completely clear that it should be some function of the square root of the number of participants. When testing with the lamp method, it seems that multiplying by 2 and rounding down works well: number_of_rounds = rounddown (2 * sqrt (number_of_participants)) so we get: 6 rounds = 11-12 participants 7 rounds = 13-15 participants 8 rounds = 16-20 participants 9 rounds = 21-24 participants 10 rounds = 25-30 participants 11 rounds = 31-35 participants etc. 50 participants = 14 rounds 75 participants = 17 rounds 100 participants = 20 rounds 150 participants = 24 rounds 200 participants = 28 rounds

The formula is of course only valid for games with 2 players.

It should be possible to join the tournament even after it is already running, not just VIPs. This often causes many people to miss out on the tournament.
