The year 2023 was a very successful year for the vint.ee portal: 4,761 new users registered and 6,964 tournaments took place.
Major updates to the vint.ee portal in 2023
We opened an E-Shop
You have to try new things in life - ordering clothes and cards with vint.ee logos and programming the functionality of an e-shop was definitely something completely new. If you haven't peeked into the e-shop yet, I recommend you do! To date, we have already fulfilled over a couple dozen orders.
Dark Mode
Even the writer here wasn't very familiar with what Dark Mode was and how to turn it on, but thanks to our designer Valju, we made it happen. And we got a lot of positive feedback!
Playing Russian Checkers with a Computer
This functionality can be considered one of the most complicated (in terms of implementation) that I have done in recent years. And this journey is not over yet: The computer plays quite well when it is faced with a familiar position, but when faced with an unknown position, it plays quite poorly. And this part is planned to be improved next. Playing with the computer has been very popular: 50,000 games have been played in 8 months and it has certainly brought more life to the Russian checkers space in general!
Playing Chess with a Computer
Compared to checkers, programming chess to play on a computer was 10 times easier: We use the Stockfish program, which has 20 difficulty levels. This functionality has also been very popular: 63,000 games have been played in a year !
Vint.ee Chatbot
The year 2023 will generally go down in history as the year AI reached the masses: the triumph of ChatGPT has opened people's eyes and shown what the new technology is capable of. And Vint.ee wanted to make its contribution and bring this technology closer to our users. And the result has been very good - nearly 10,000 requests have been made to Vint.ee Chatbot this year, or an average of 30 requests every day!
Russian checkers with draw squares
While Fischer's chess has not gained much popularity among chess players, checkers have been more successful in this regard - checkers with a random starting position (with a draw) are already played in official title competitions. Now this type of chess can also be played in swashbuckler, and over a thousand games have been played in a year. Since checkers with draw are played as microgames, we also had to make swashbuckler support this functionality. And since it already existed in checkers, we made the possibility of microgames available in chess too !
