"On March 11, the seventh Estonian Sudoku Championship was held in Paide. 40 of the best Estonian Sudoku solvers participated, of whom the top ten from last year qualified for the competition without preliminary rounds. The competition consisted of a main round and a sprint, the sum of which qualified the top six for the final. The final was held using the so-called Gundersen method, where the winner of the main rounds received 30 minutes of solving time for the final and each subsequent place received one minute less. Last year's Estonian champion and World Championship bronze medalist Tiit Vunk was more successful in both main rounds and the final and was crowned Estonian champion for the second year in a row. Ain Salula, who was awarded the gold medal of the Estonian Championship in 2008-2010, put up a strong resistance, but had to settle for second place, just like last year. The fight for third place was particularly tense, and Kertu Majas and Regina Mölder finished the final with equal results. The bronze medal went to just like last year for Kertu Majase, because in case of a tied final result, the better result in the main rounds would be decisive. Fifth place went to the newcomer Villem Mesila and sixth was Alar Heinaste. 2006 and 2007 Estonian champion Arko Olesk finished 12th. Outside the classification, guest competitor Christof Bruetsch from Switzerland also participated, finishing in 18th place. Based on the results of the Estonian championships, a four-member Estonian team will be assembled to represent Estonia at this year's Sudoku World Championship in Croatia." Source: www.kuma.ee For those who don't know, Tiit Vunk is one of the founders of Vint.ee and he is largely "to blame" for the fact that today Sudokus can be solved in this form on Vint. It is also pleasing to note that today's TOP 6 Estonian Sudoku solvers actively solve sudokus on Vint - All six are in the Vint sudoku TOP 10! As mentioned recently, Vint's goal this year is to become an even better sudoku portal (specially shaped sudokus better statistics). We wish Tiit and other Sudoku lovers success!
