New year with new momentum and 2015 will not be spared in this regard. The first round of next year's Sudoku Grand Prix will take place on January 2nd. This year there will be 8 rounds of Sudoku GP and 8 rounds of Logic GP, so it's a pretty tight schedule. In both, the best 6 results will count and the competition format is similar to last year. Each round starts on Friday and ends on Monday evening, so there are 4 days to participate. The final of the competition will probably take place around October 11th in Sofia, Bulgaria. The 2014 final, which took place in London, was very exciting (it's still exciting to win), so maybe this will give you extra motivation to participate in both the GP competition and the Estonian championships for a place in the World Championship team. I'll keep you updated when the competition guidelines are released or when the round starts. You can feel free to write anything related to the 2015 Sudoku GP in this forum. The instructions for Round 1 have been quietly posted, although interestingly, it hasn't been published anywhere. Anyway, here it is: http://gp.worldpuzzle.org/content/instruction-booklet Happy preparing!
Give me a light, the first round is over. You can solve it today, tomorrow, and even Monday.
The results are out. 13 Estonians participated. We hope there will be more in the last round! The results are also available as a direct link http://gp.worldpuzzle.org/content/official-results-wpf-gp-sudoku-1-0
Aha - some of their usernames are already familiar to us :)
It's time to prepare for the second round of Sudoku GP 2015. The puzzles are compiled by Russia, the event itself will take place next weekend. The puzzles are available on the GP website.
Sudoku GP round 2 is underway. So don't forget to participate.
I solved it last night. I got 9 pieces done, so maybe the answers were sent correctly this time. Last time I guess I got stuck with one answer. However, when I looked at the answer sheet, all the lines seemed to be the same as the ones I solved.
The results of the 2nd round are out. http://gp.worldpuzzle.org/content/official-results-wpf-gp-sudoku-2-0 There were 19 Estonians in the competition. In my opinion, a pretty good number. I believe that everyone who participated was satisfied, because the tasks were generally within reach. It seems that a certain format of the competition has been achieved that is suitable for everyone. Therefore, I urge everyone to try and take part. If we compare ourselves with our neighbors, for example, 10 Estonians were better than the best and only participant from Latvia. Only 2 Finns participated. There were only 4 Russians, which is a very small number considering that Russia was the host this time. One Czech and one Japanese were still better than the Estonians :)
Congratulations, Tiit, a decent result as usual. My result was a little worse than expected due to technical glitches, but the sudokus themselves were great, I finished them after the competition, but I would like to ask about the No Touch Sudoku. How did it finally start running? It started ok, but then for a moment things got stuck and in the end I came to the conclusion that it was perhaps the most difficult sudoku of the competition? Even the 90-point sudoku with the bombardment of ships was easier to solve, not to mention the diagonal, which gave the same number of points as the No Touch Sudoku but was much easier to do. However, I think I have had a hard time with this variant before and I simply missed something. That is why I asked for an expert's comment on this sudoku. :) riksman
