At the Estonian Championship in 64-square checkers held at Viljandi Gymnasium, Kaari Vainonen and Arno Uutma became Estonian champions, for whom it was already their 90th Estonian Championship medal. Vello Luht, a resident of Viljandi and multiple Estonian champion, came second among the men. At the 66th Estonian Men's Championship in 64-square checkers, Arno Uutma from the Jõgeva Checkers Club successfully defended his title, collecting 13 points. Local checkers player Vello Luht came in second with 10 points. Arvo Rist from the Hiiumaa Checkers Club took third place with a coefficient ahead of his brother Raivo Rist, collecting 9 points. 12 players took part in the men's competition and the average coefficient of the competition was 2389, which was the highest in recent years. The 58th Estonian Women's Championship was won by Kaari Vainonen from the Lasnamäe Chess and Checkers Club with 7 points. Piret Viirma from Järva County shared second and third place with Marika Azojan (Jõgeva Checkers Club), who also scored 4 points, but passed the latter in the final table due to a higher coefficient.
