At the youth world championships in renjus held in Suure-Jaani, only 16-year-old Estonian Martin Hõbemägi won first place among male juniors up to 23 years old, scoring 8.5 points out of a possible ten. Villem Mesila came third in the same group. In addition, Estonians managed to get two fourth places: 9-year-old Markus Ikla among boys up to 12 years old and Argo Lillemaa in the competition for young men aged 13-17. The competition was held in six groups according to age and gender. Four world championship titles were won by China, one each by Estonia and Russia.
