I have to start by saying that I do not use the chess services of the active site Vint.ee. I apologize in advance if any of my ideas are being implemented or even implemented - I am speaking as it seems at first glance. First of all - terrible software. I believe that I do not need to explain more. Look at some chess program, there you will find many more suitable buttons, etc. This also includes things like the fact that seconds are added with each move - this is complete absurdity! Anyone who plays chess online knows that time is very important. Samui would like to know how the lag compensation is regulated here. About tournaments - I have read this post about paid tournaments. I should say that one-minute tournaments, where time is also added - in my opinion they would be pointless and I would not take part in them. They should make 3-minute tournaments, with about 90 seconds of lag compensation and regulate the possibility of using a computer. How - I cannot say. By the way, when it comes to tournaments, I recommend introducing a system to make your own tournament for the weaker players. Tournaments with a rating of less than 2000, to participate you must have played about 30 games from the same account. The site would be more popular if there was an opportunity to organize and conduct tournaments yourself. You could also think about organizing paid simultaneouss yourself - agree with a stronger player that he will, for example, do a simultaneous on 10 tables and the game will cost, for example, 50 kroons. For many, this may be the only opportunity to play with a grandmaster or the like. The only plus of Vint.ee (over other sites) is that "their" people play here. This should be actively used. One idea, for example, is to conduct an online Vint.ee championship tournament, which would be more prestigious than any random tournament. At the moment, vint.ee is a beginners' site, where a stronger player occasionally gets into it, but rarely. There are just few players.

First of all: Thanks for the constructive criticism! * Extra seconds. Yes - we have run across the relevant topic: here . The chess world is moving towards extra seconds... Anyway, Vint chess will have an option for extra seconds. And the move-based time control (time to make one move) will disappear from chess altogether. * There is currently no ceiling compensation. I don't think there will be one this year. We are not aware that this would be a big problem for us. * Paid tournaments will probably come with different time controls: There will be one-minute and 5-minute ones. * Tournaments for the weaker players will come when there is a problem with that. At the moment, it is often a matter of getting 20 users together for chess tournaments. Come and take part and try it yourself! * We will not organize users' own tournaments in Vint - Vint tournaments are more official. We are afraid that otherwise things will go wrong. * Simultaneouss are an interesting idea - would users be willing to pay to play against a grandmaster online? * We have emphasized this "our" theme. Also in tournaments - we are trying to find out the best ESTONIAN online chess players, Fischer chess players, pickers... * I don't really believe this talk about beginners (define a beginner?). It is impossible to get into the TOP 10 of chess (at least for me as a beginner!). Interestingly, Vint is more popular among checkers (according to experts, the level at the last Vint.ee Russian Checkers tournament was harder than at the average Rüütsalu tournament). But we are also trying to make chess players like it more!

I think there could be a move-based time control. Time is not really important to me, I just want to play. But I guess you can't do without time on the internet. But this move-based time control is better and then you don't have to worry about time. It's every player's choice whether they want such a time system or not.

I guess it will still be turn-based. I thought about that a little bit.

1. Movement. drag and drop. period. In the current movement mode, it takes significantly more time to make a move. especially necessary for any games with a time control of less than 2 0. (aka bullet) 2. sounds. who needs that siren wailing like an emergency horn, in the last seconds? The sound of a chess move should be short and clear, not screaming in your ear, not some tirr-tirr bull bull. The sound file would probably be smaller then. It is not appropriate to ignore the suggestion sounds, because in a fast game it is important to notice that the opponent has made a move. 3. premove. Situations where the opponent has only one possible valid move and etc., you have, for example, 2 seconds to checkmate with some move. Now you have to pass the opponent's move, and then in case of a poor connection, you discover that you did not manage to place a one-move checkmate in 5 seconds. or another term arising from the latter: 4. timeseal. a time detection mechanism that determines the time spent on a move, i.e. takes network latency into account. and only then considers whether the move (e.g. checkmate) took place within the allowed time or was hopelessly late. The latter is probably too much to ask for?

I don't think giving users the ability to organize tournaments would make things easier. You can give trusted users the status of "tournament organizer" or something like that... and not every dude would really be suitable to organize tournaments, and I don't think Nicki even thought of that.

Yes - in the last two months, new winds have started to blow: * "timeseal. a time detection mechanism that determines the time spent on a move, i.e. takes network latency into account. and only then calculates whether the move (for example, checkmate) took place within the allowed time or was hopelessly late." - implemented! * User tournaments are coming - users can also start organizing tournaments with a participation fee! * By the summer, we will try to implement user account authentication (with ID card, bank link) and We will start organizing official Estonian (online) championships.

Very good ideas! I'm looking forward to the implementations! It's going to be really cool. Good luck!:)

Drag and drop could really be. If it doesn't suit everyone, at least there should be a choice.

posted by nikitheone You could also think about organizing paid simultaneouss yourself - agree with a stronger player that he will do a simultaneous on, for example, 10 tables and the game will cost, for example, 50 kroons. For many, this may be the only opportunity to play with a grandmaster or the like.
It is unlikely that a grandmaster will end up here (e.g. Külaots or Ehlvest) and you can't be completely sure. Then there would have to be a regular user who wants to give a simultaneous, others who want to take part in it would pay 50.- . Who would be willing to pay such a price for it? UNLESS you could really play with a grandmaster, but I don't know.
