card game nails rules

The rules state that the king of spades goes on top of every card and the opponent picks up 4 more cards. But the situation in the game is, I have the king of spades in my hand, the opponent lays down his six seven aces all in a row on the table and gets rid of his cards, but I can't use my king of spades. So why make such rules if they aren't followed.

There is even a queue outside the pub's front door, and anyone pushing forward is beaten.
