I haven't really made much of a point about what colors someone has in tournaments. But since the level of gomoku/renju has gotten tougher and many foreigners often participate, who tend to complain about the draw, I think it's time to mention it. Yesterday I played a VV gomoku tournament with 7 participants. As I understand it, the system draws the same way in the Swiss system, regardless of whether it's actually a round robin system. But it's still funny when you're the opener 5 times in a row, like I was yesterday. If there are no VV2s, i.e. no opportunity to confuse the position with moves 4 and 5, then the opener has an advantage if he is a strong player and has analyzed the position to some extent beforehand. Even in 2-3 hours it's hard to read the nuances to the end. If the time control is 2-3 minutes per game, then it's pretty much impossible (that's why we also play VV-two at the Mõttespordi EMV). I don't think the rifle really needs two VVs, but it would be nice if colors were considered more carefully when drawing in tournaments :)

Both yesterday and today I was able to make an opening in all games, or 13 times in a row :)
