Outages in the wind 21.02.2011

On Monday, 21.02.2011, several outages occurred in Vint. The game portal was inaccessible for several hours and tournaments were also interrupted in the evening. This was caused by network problems of the Vint.ee server host (www.linxtelecom.ee). Below is Linxtelecom's official explanation for the incident: Yesterday, 21.02.2011, part of Linxtelecom's Estonian backbone network was affected by an extremely large flow of packets originating from various sources. This cyber attack caused a load on this part of the network several times greater than normal, which resulted in malfunctions in the hardware and software of one of the backbone network routers. During the investigation of the incident, the problematic network device module was replaced and our network engineers took all possible security measures to stabilize the situation. The outage began at 14:31, customer services were stabilized by 17:32, after which individual customers still experienced outages.
