Yesterday, March 13, 2011, the 6th Estonian Sudoku Championship took place. As has become a tradition, it was held in Paide and was organized by Kuma. The competitions consisted of two rounds and a final. In the first round, 6 classic, 4 diagonal Sudokus, 4 special-shaped Sudokus and a 16x16 classic Sudoku had to be solved within 90 minutes. In the second round (sprint), 9 mini-Sudokus had to be solved within 12 minutes. The top 6 from the preliminary rounds advanced to the final. The participant who scored the most points in the preliminary rounds was allowed to start solving first, and the rest began solving the final problems at one-minute intervals. After the preliminary rounds, the finals began in the following order: Tiit Vunk, Ain Salula, Kertu Majas, Kristel Tuisk, Arko Olesk and Kertu Luht. Final ranking: 1. Tiit Vunk (TiiT) 2. Ain Salula (ain1234) 3. Kertu Majas (Kertzuuu) 4. Arko Olesk (vind's username is unknown) 5. Kristel Tuisk (Kristel) 6. Kertu Luht (Mimm)
Congratulations Tiit! Is there anywhere where I can see all the results?
Congratulations to Mimmi on reaching the final for the first time and her trip to the World Championships! The results have been available on the KUMA website www.kuma.ee in previous years, so this time too.
Well, I didn't dare wish Mimmi luck, I was afraid that maybe Taibutar would lose first place for some reason. But then she has 2 World Championships coming up, she's also welcome to the Gomoku with you, Andres.
The results should be available on www.kuma.ee. They weren't there yet, but they won't be without them.
Thanks for the congratulations. It could have been better, but not for a medal. Those places were too sure. And Ants, congratulations to you too :)
Congratulations from me too, especially to Mimmu ;)
This going to the World Championships may not be a sure thing. One reason is that after the competitions it was announced that a place in the World Championships would be offered to three competitors (one competitor has already secured a place). The logic behind this announcement is that since this year the Logic and Sudoku World Championships will be held in the same place (Hungary) and practically at the same time, and the Logic World Championships, which have already been around for 20 years, have always consisted of one 4-member team from each country, it may be quite likely that the number of competitors allowed to the Sudoku World Championships will also be reduced from 6 to 4 from one country. In other words, two 3-member teams were allowed before. After all, there are a lot of people who want to compete and it tends to be a pretty big event - they want to limit this a bit, right? The good thing is that maybe the group will become more diverse there, new countries will join the participants, etc. The bad thing is that such strong so-called sudoku countries, where you can find 20 people who are able to solve the puzzle in the first half, are suffering. Things will probably get very tense in the Czech, Japanese and German championships. At the last World Cup, for example, there were as many as 5 Czechs among the first 20. One of them will probably have to wipe his mouth clean... But this is just speculation, what will actually happen, I guess no one really knows, because even the venue of the World Cup is unknown.
Now you can admire all the results under "Events" :)
It seems that Kertzuu was the first to really get it. Does this mean that our two super geniuses have a tough competitor? That the Czechs can retire to solve 3x3 sudoku and Estonia will take the team World Championship title?
