Grasshopper chess, regular chess pieces on a regular chessboard. Between the pawns and rooks there is a whole row of checker pieces (8 each). Rows 4 and 5 are free of pieces at the start of the game. The chess pieces move like regular chess pieces and checker pieces must always jump over 1 piece diagonally (like a spear) if they want to move, they can jump over both their own and their opponent's pieces. A checker piece can move along the entire length of the line, but must land behind the piece it is jumping over. A checker piece takes the piece that is on the landing square and if there is a king there, it gives fire. Checkmate is like regular chess, only now you can do this with checker pieces too.
Sounds interesting and I've never heard of such a game before!
