I have recently asked several gomoku players if they would be interested in playing pentest on vint.ee and they have said that they are very interested. I believe that most of those who currently play gomoku a lot would also try pente and probably other interested parties will come as well. You can read about pente at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pente, but in Estonian: http://lap.ee/zummer/index.php?rules=4 I myself have learned pente a little differently - that the board is 15x15 and that to reduce the advantage of white, or the starter, he should move out of the central square 5x5 on his second move. Apparently, there are so few good pente players in Estonia that the starter's advantage is not a big problem at first. But well, what is more important at first is what people here think of pente, so let me know :)

Sounds very interesting and the implementation doesn't seem to be difficult. If the priority things currently on the work list are done, I would take up Pente and Keryo-Pente :)

In Zhejiang province, China, I met a sports official who was also a very strong go player (5 dan). Since I hardly know go and he didn't play rendzu and didn't want to play gomoku against me, he suggested we play pente. Pente is cooler than gomoku, so I had a slight advantage, but it was still exciting to play :)

It is quite interesting that there are actually three versions of pente, more precisely the size of the game board. 19x19 - also called the "official board", which was adopted by the creator of the game (used a go board) 15x15 - a variant that is popular among renju players (used a renju board) 13x13 - is used on several websites (including lap.ttu/zummer); pente.net calls it the "strategy board", since the game strategy is affected by the limitations arising from the proximity of the edges. A different board size can be an alternative when offering a game.

I think a 19*19 board would be a good idea. Would that be a really bad solution?

This is a good option, I think.

I think this is also a good option.

How's this pente going? Is there a time for a vinti? I'm very interested in this game :)

I promise to release Pentet in November. By the way: Is it worth making separate Pente and Keyro Pente? I suggest that I make a game with the rules of Keyro Pente and name it Pente? What do you think?

I haven't played keryo-pente practically yet, but now I've signed up for the lap.ee/zummeri tournament to try it out. At first glance, I think it would be more like regular pente, but maybe my opinion will change :). Anyway, it would be good to hear other people's opinions.
