Hello, The Sudoku World Championship is underway, and Estonians have high hopes for Tiit Vunki. Tiit won the bronze medal in 2011, and the following year he was fourth. The individual competition started today and will end tomorrow evening. Tiit is in first place after the first three rounds! You can follow the results here: http://wscwpc2013.sudoku.org.cn/index.php?id=179

The official results have not yet been posted, but the blog of the Germans present in the competition hall describes the final competition as follows: Tiit, despite the 5-minute time advantage he earned in the preliminary competitions, was unable to stay in the medal competition and had to settle for a modest 8-10th place. I can't say more precisely at the moment. The final competition was such that the 10 finalists started with a handicap based on the points from the preliminary competition, with Tiit having a time advantage of over five minutes over second place. After the third sudoku, only the 7 fastest continued, and after the fifth, only 5. The Chinese became the winner, the defending champion Japanese came in second.

I'll give you more precise results: The official place is 8th. What can happen to anyone happened - I came across a sudoku that I couldn't solve quickly enough. The level is so hard, however, that by the time I finished the sudoku, I had missed the train. Tough field, what else. Based on the preliminary rounds, 1-10 places were distributed within 10 minutes and the differences depended on what the differences in points were. To be more precise, I had a 5min and 34sec lead. In addition, the Japanese Kota Morinishi came in second, who is not the defending champion, but he took 2nd place for the third year in a row. In addition, on the evening of the first day of competition, the Sudoku Grand Prix final between the top 10 GPs took place and I managed to fight off 2nd place there. The opponents were the same, the sudokus were a little different. All in all, 1st place was more like luck, because the difference was very minimal (15 seconds). Considering that the winner had a 20-second lead at the beginning, I was the fastest in the final. So, take it whatever you want - as if it could be worthy of a World Championship title - but it couldn't have been better than 8th place :) Next year will be better! By the way, I would also like to mention the other results: Regina got 66th, Taavi 93rd and Ragnar 99th, and the team 14th, which are not bad results at all.
