Online crosswords in Vindis

Yes, we don't use these crosswords. We only use question-answer pairs. I seriously doubt whether "news program" - "AK" or "Four-legged animal" - "dog" are protected by copyright. Still, the crossword itself as a whole. However, we generate the crosswords ourselves with an algorithm we wrote ourselves.

There are currently about 9000 questions/answers in the database. From these, I can generate an 8x8 crossword in real time (containing about 27-28 questions). Is 8x8 too small? Generating 9x9 takes a few seconds, sometimes 30 seconds. Generating 10x10 currently takes about a minute. I guess I need to make a crossword puzzle first and see how many squares it can fit in. Sudoku is an example. 9x9 and the square size is quite ok there.

There shouldn't be any problems with the size of the square... If it's small, then click on the toolbar on the far right - three dashes or customize - and from there I can increase it, at least that's how I did it in Sudoku.

I made the question font size depend on the longest word in the question, here is the result: 8x8 still looks more or less the same. I can't imagine 10x10, the question text is too small. I have to review these questions and shorten them anyway before it goes public. I wonder how quickly specialists will solve this 8x8? Maybe it's too easy? Someone who is an expert could solve it and let me know how long it took. There are also questions - is the right-hand part needed on the board (chat, spectators). Sudokus have it. Do you go and watch someone else's solution and can chat with the solver? Do you invite a friend to help you solve it :)? However, I would be interested in getting an overview of who is watching my solution at the moment... If I hide this column on the right, I could already draw a 12X8 crossword. In principle I could already put up a version where you can just solve it yourself and track the solution times in the game search. No duels, tournaments, leaderboards. I would just check if 8x8 is a sufficient size, it would be better to draw the crossword, etc. Also, new rules for entering questions/answers are emerging from here: 1) The question must have a maximum of 3 words. The maximum length of one word in the question must be 11 characters, etc.

The speed of solving this crossword puzzle essentially depends on the speed of writing, a little too easy, at least for me. It didn't take long, but I suggest a few minutes. The only thing that was difficult for me was the German words, because I haven't learned German. Best wishes

Since the generation of crosswords is relatively slow (requires server resources), only VIP users can solve crosswords during the test period. I started reviewing the entered questions/answers myself. I have reached the answers starting with the letter I.
