Hello, Since there has been some grumbling about the fact that Vint.ee crosswords are too difficult (containing words that no one knows by heart), this topic needs a little explanation / discussion. 1) Vint.ee crossword questions and answers are entered by vint.ee users. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to have crosswords. Before entering a question, each entrant should ask themselves whether they would like to see such a question in the crossword they are solving. 2) The uniqueness of Vint.ee crosswords lies in the fact that we hold competitions (duels, tournaments). Since everything is done via the Internet, we have no way of checking who solved the crossword with their own head and who googled the correct answer. Therefore, it must be taken into account that Google can be used to solve crosswords. And if you're going to google it anyway, then should the words you google be a little harder? Kalade loend is available to everyone. If you already have a few first letters, you can quickly find the answer there. A simple google search will take us to List of cities in Russia, where there are 320 cities. You can also find the answer there. Belgian footballers also come up quickly on google. And of course Estonian explanatory dictionary, where you can find the answer to questions like "Eksimus" - "Viga". Over time, some fish / cities / athletes will also be remembered by the solvers. Maybe it's good to brag about your knowledge in a group that a fish called lipsucker exists :)? I don't know. Or is it better to remove all unknown fish, cities, and football players from our database? Would solving it be more interesting or more boring in the long run?

I was the one who entered these fish, please give me a lighter sentence. I recently visited the aquarium at the Berlin Zoo and there were still a lot of fish swimming in the crosswords without asking :). But the worse thing is with the errors that still exist and the simply meaningless questions (notes/degrees, eh-möh-ah-uh etc) and the situations where you can't do anything else after trying. A pronoun crosses a woman's name and then you put Anna, Anni, Anne in there. Such a solution is not based on knowledge but on sleight of hand. Especially in a tournament, such situations cause a loss of time, when there are several such places of trying. Of course, you have to have a little luck. An automatic error reporting link would help with errors, Meikop, what do you think? Especially in a tournament, when it's busy, you just let me know by marking the question. The same goes for nonsense. I wish the word inputters perseverance so that all the encyclopedias of the world can be entered. Then Meikop can make a vintopedia, get very rich with it, and we can all play all the games in the world and those invented in the future 24/7 for free. Life is like a flower!
We are trying to eliminate the "ouch-ouch" answers, but we can also fix them. As for the generator not putting the names of cats and dogs together, it takes time, so maybe that's not the biggest problem. An error report will be sent. Better click on the question square when solving the crossword. But in general - today I saw a tournament where one user solved all 5 crosswords in under 4 minutes with all those fish, cities and football players. Maybe this problem isn't that big either!
There could be a maximum of 50 most popular fish, the same with Russian and German cities, larger cities. There's no point in making a fuss about each one. I don't even feel like googling, I'd rather be able to solve each fish or German/Russian city with some letters. Not like now, if even 2 letters are missing, you're still completely confused about what fish it is.
Well, that's how it is with this popularity. Some people have a mother, some have a grandmother. I believe that the more words you enter, the better the crosswords will be. I've made them by hand myself and searched through a lot of books to find the right word. If a word is really good, then popularity doesn't matter at all. Fish, well...
Today I tried to solve the so-called big and difficult crossword, it was a bit of a puzzle and a guess. In this regard, I would suggest that if you ask for a city, OM silver, a chain of stores, then according to the standard standard it is assumed that it is an Estonian athlete, city, etc. In the case of a village, for example, asking for an Estonian village is quite strange, then at least the county should be mentioned, but why not also the municipality. Because a village is such a small unit anyway. In this question, there was a chain of stores that crossed with a Coptic letter and as was finally recognized as correct, the chain of stores was ICA and the Coptic letter CHI. ICA is a Swedish chain of stores, which could be mentioned correctly and secondly, I would be interested in what the hell source(s) this Coptic alphabet was inserted from. Chi is the English Greek hii, which also has a Coptic equivalent, but I had a hard time Estonianizing Chi from any Coptic letter.
Completely valid comments, MrQb. I have searched and asked, no one has been able to show me the Estonian Coptic alphabet, so I will bring the English Coptic alphabet for comparison. In English there is the letter shay (probably Estonianized as ši/shi), which represents the sound š. C would already assume a t sound, but for the "tsh" sound there is the letter Tšema (cf. Tshēma) in the Coptic alphabet. The conclusion - chi cannot possibly be correct - it is either ši/shi or čema/tšema. As a personal grumble, I note that there are a lot of questions to which Google does not provide answers. All kinds of climbing, park and tea roses, kamon. Secondly, checkers and chess terms. When I have asked about them, I have been arrogantly told that you yourself are stupid if you do not know chess. In short - these are professional terms, which are the domain of the compiler, but not necessarily the solver. Let's stick to questions whose answers can be found without leaving the computer or derived from the surrounding context or from passive memory stored in school days. Thank you for your attention :)
Brazz is telling the truth. And I'm not stupid because I don't know chess and even less because I know some terms. A person doesn't have to know everything. I googled some chess term the other day... but I couldn't find the right one that I needed... and it remained unresolved. If some names or villages and chess terms intersect, then it's impossible to find the right word.
Yes, crosswords are not finished yet. The day will come soon when: 1) In easy crosswords, there will be no questions with a difficulty level higher than 8 2) In hard crosswords, no two questions with a difficulty level higher than 8 will cross
All kinds of alphabets and letter names are available in a great Estonian book titled Keelteatlas.
