The Estonian team championship in international draughts was held over the weekend. The winner was Lasnamäe Checkers Club with 8 points, consisting of Villem Lüüs, Tarmo Tulva, Kalev Parksepp and Kaari Vainonen. In the last decisive game, Lasnamäe managed to defeat the defending champion Paide (formerly Järvamaa), who came in second with 5 points. Urmo Ilves, Argo Unnuk, Andrus Tull and Piret Viirma played for Paide. Nõmme Checkers Club came in third with a win in the last round, defeating Jõgeva in the decisive match. Nõmme played with Raido Värik, Anti Ingel, Riho Briker and Kadi Veski. Jõgeva also collected 3 points, but the additional criterion and the loss to Nõmme in the last round left them without a medal.
