People disappearing from tournaments

I'm certainly not speaking for everyone, but I'm sure it's a lot. There are certain users who register for a tournament, play a few rounds, and then disappear. There are also those who come during a later registration, but after two or three rounds they're gone. Often these players simply create empty rounds in tournaments, and in some tournaments (e.g. a family of 4, where only 4 people participate), this ends the tournament prematurely. But these disappearing players are always the same. Meikop, would it be possible to ban them from registering for a tournament (if you've left half of a tournament 5 times in six months, etc.)? Or some extra penalty for that...something so that this leaving wouldn't be such an everyday thing, especially in tournaments with a thousand players.

I agree that it is very annoying when it is done like this. Some people blame it on a bad internet connection, which I really don't want to believe, but you never know. My suggestion would be the following: since all sorts of things can happen in life (milk boils over, stomach aches, internet goes down, etc.), then after the second interruption in a day, you will automatically be banned from participating in the tournament/from the given game for three days. Or some kind of fine in the form of an additional rating reduction.

I would rather suggest that only the required number of people can participate in the tournament, i.e. 4, 8, 12, etc. Then the selection would take place in the order of registration and a new table would only be opened when there are 4 applicants. In the case of one, two and three "extra" registrants, for example, the last table would not be made and people would not be able to participate. Tough, but it would work :)

In what sense? We have our own lives too, it always happens that something gets in the way... is that why the ban on playing immediately?

I'll also add that the reason I don't go to tournaments much is because I know when there's no free time... that's usually how they last...

I really understand if in some special situations there is a need to leave, but if it happens consistently only to certain people, then the question arises as to why they are even playing at all if they know they won't last the tournament. The main players have known about them for a long time and have even predicted a few times in the tournament room who will be the first to leave this time :D I propose a solution, for example, a ban on registering for a tournament in a given game if there have been, for example, 10 exits from the tournament within a month. The length of the ban could also be a month...

I am a little cautious about making new rules and would try to find a solution with today's tools. Those who leave will also receive a decent rating penalty and if they are the same people, their rating should already be very low. Maybe one solution could be tournaments with a rating limit? for example 1200 ? Those who leave often will have their rating drop below that soon and will no longer be able to participate. Another solution is closed tournaments, i.e. the tournament organizer does not allow them to enter the tournament.

If someone gets sick after a lavish feast, they won't be able to play the tournament to the end.

Well, those who leave usually don't really care about the rating. You can also take a zero rating for that, whatever they want :) Tournaments with a rating limit - hmmm then I guess we should have 1500 tournaments all the time??? They wouldn't happen very often, there are no losers, but let's be honest - if a person already has over 1700-1800 points, they won't really come to the tournament anymore. Closed tournaments :D Hey, you're still thinking about how to make money...then make organizing a closed tournament tax-free.

But if someone leaves, there will still be a free round or several :)
