April 29 - May 2, the 5th World Sudoku Championship took place in Philadelphia, USA. The world championship title was won by Jan Mrozowski from Poland for the second year in a row. In the final, he was narrowly defeated by Jakub Ondroušek from the Czech Republic. Hideaki Jo from Japan took third place. The German team was crowned the team world champion ahead of the Czech Republic and Japan. Estonians were represented at the World Championship with one team. They achieved 17th place. In the individual standings, Tiit Vunk achieved 18th place (which is also the best place achieved by Estonians in the mentioned competitions), Kristel Tuisk 100th and Regina Mölder 111th place. The competition was made exciting and attractive by Thomas Snyder and Wei Hwa Huang from the USA, who prepared the tasks and conducted the event. A detailed results table can be seen HERE
