Hello,

Last year, the gomoku tournament series was won by Estonian Timo Ilu , as you may recall, and strong foreign players were quite episodic characters.

This year, it was gratifying that Hungarian national team player Gergő Tóth , one of the absolute best in the world, showed his level in the series.
Gergő left no chance to others, participating in 19 tournaments and winning 18 of them! But his strength is evident in the fact that he came fourth in the last gomoku world championships ( 2017 and 2019 ). In 2015, he even won silver - (albeit in a slightly thinner competition).

Second place went to Piotr Małowiejski , a highly experienced and tough Polish player. Third place went to an 8-year-old Moscow talent, Alexandr Pinsky.

Timo Ilu was the best Estonian this time, coming in fifth. True, he clearly didn't have time to focus on the series this time. Otherwise, he would have been able to give Gergő a tough fight.
The second Estonian, or ninth overall, was Mikk Kaarel Õim. Mikk has previously stood out as a good young chess player, but also as a multi-talented mind player. He has also made noticeable progress in Gomoku in a short time, and as a tenacious fighter, he was one of five players who participated in all 30 stages of the series.
Ida-Liisa Välli came third among Estonians and also among women (the most successful among women was Moscow girl Daria Chrurikova ).

In the near future, there are several smaller exciting series planned for gomoku (and renju fans) in the evenings , so keep an eye out for information under tournament series!

Vint.ee's long-running series is currently scheduled to be postponed until the fall.
