At the traditional year-end tournament Tallinn Open, where in addition to rendžu, gomoku and pente have also been planned in recent years, this year, under the leadership of Andres Kuus, boku was also tried. It is known that boku was one of Andres' trump cards at the London Mind Games Olympiad. For those who don't know how to play boku, Andres said that it has elements of gomoku, pente and go. The board is such a funny little one, completely different from the previously mentioned games. The goal is to form a five along these strange lines by placing black and white pieces on the board in turns. What is common with pente is that you can surround pairs, but you can only capture 1 piece of your choice. What is common with go is that you cannot go to the location of a captured piece again (although, only on the next move). 15 players participated in the tournament in Kullo. About half of them knew more or less how the game works, the rest found out before the tournament :) Andres won with 6.5 points out of 7. I got 6 and Paul Kolk 5 points.
