Hello, Last weekend, the 17th World Mind Games Championship ended in London. This year, the Estonian team was represented by four competitors: Andres Kuusk, Martin Hõbemägi, Madli Mirme and Liise Reinik. There were participants from 40 countries in total and they competed in 40 disciplines, starting with classic board games (chess, checkers) and ending with games that have also gained popularity in Estonia in recent years: Settlers of Catan, poker and scrabble. The five best results were taken into account in the overall standings (maximum number of points 500). Andres Kuusk, having become the world champion in this discipline in 2011, proved once again that he is one of the best mind games in the world, sharing first place with Indian Ankush Khandelwal (both with 492 points). Andres managed to win 4 disciplines: Hare and Tortoise, Entropia, Kamisado and Boku. Another excellent result from the Estonian team was achieved by Martin Hõbemägi (448 points), who came first in the junior category and achieved 5th place overall. Martin managed to pick up medals in monopoly, poker, bridge and renju. Saravanan Sathyanandha from India and Sam Smith from Guernsey, who earned silver and bronze after Martin in the junior category, were 23rd and 28th in the overall ranking, respectively, losing Martin by well over 100 points. Madli Mirme collected 309 points and was 4th among women, falling behind 3rd place by only 10 points.
