The idea is to create a small ranking based on the daily sudoku solving, where the fastest daily sudoku solvers of yesterday would be. so-called. makers of the day. I propose a system: The first three places of each sudoku difficulty level are looked at and the points are distributed as follows: 6x6 easy - points 3, 2, 1 6x6 medium - points 4, 3, 2 9x9 easy - points 4, 3, 2 9x9 medium and diagonal easy - points 5, 4, 3 9x9 hard and diagonal medium - points 6, 5, 4 9x9 very hard and diagonal hard - points 7, 6, 5 The points are added up and the users are ranked according to them. What do you think?

Another idea inspired by the World Brain Games Championship: Points are awarded for each difficulty level. First place gives 100p. The remaining places give points according to the formula (first player's time/other player's time)*100. The 5 best results of each participant are taken into account in the daily leaderboard. The maximum possible score is 500p and it is guaranteed that only one person can get it, because there are 9 difficulty levels in total. With such a scoring system, it would not be necessary to solve all sudokus (for example, in a situation where the player does not want to solve the easier ones or is unable to solve the harder ones). To compete equally, 5 difficulty levels should be solved, because exactly 5 results will be counted in any case. At the same time, there would also be a small promo for solving more, because by trying harder, there is hope for better results to be counted.

One reason why the second option might be slightly preferable to the first: All contestants can compete, not just those who come in the top three.

I'll correct one point. Several people can get 500 points. It's possible to share places - unless the formula is accurate to a fraction of a second. But otherwise, I think Ain's idea is pretty good - the only downside is that it doesn't value the fact that one person can do everything consistently - another only does the easy ones, because they can't do the hard ones at all, and they beat the one who managed to do everything in a relatively good time. In short - if Ain's idea works, I don't mind it, because it's probably not hard to come up with anything better. I would just prefer a slightly different system.

Actually, there is one more plus to the system offered by Ain. I can, for example, do 5 easy ones and do quite well there - however, I should also do good times in the remaining levels to prevent as many opponents as possible from getting good times and places there.

Why 500 points out of the maximum? Why not 900 (9 daily sudokus)?

Yes, I can't deny that I like this idea. You can also get good points if you solve 8 problems - while you want to do your best, you still want to solve them all. And the time it takes to solve them plays a very big role. Should these points also be displayed somewhere?

I have to admit that I also like the idea proposed by Ain. Compared to the place points system, it also takes into account the relative gap to the next person. With place points, it doesn't matter whether you are ahead of the next person by 1 second or 1.5 minutes.

posted by Meikop Why 500 points out of the maximum? Why not 900 (9 daily sudokus)?
Because each player's 5 best results are taken into account. The reason was your own desire not to solve easier sudokus, while still maintaining the ability to compete almost equally with others in the daily solver ranking. If all 9 results were taken into account, an almost equivalent (i.e., all places would be the same, but the problem of some sudokus not being solved would still be solved, because the inverse value is used (in the case of the sum of times, the non-solver's time is better)) table would be created with a variant where the sum of all times would be found to calculate the daily solver, similar to a tournament. In the previous story, I had the impression that this variant is not suitable. I also don't support this option, because it is already used in tournaments and nothing new and interesting would happen (i.e., there would essentially be a "tournament of the day"). It seems that this sentence caused confusion: The maximum possible amount of points is 500p and it is guaranteed that only one person can get it, because there are 9 difficulty levels in total. I meant that only one person can take the 5 first places, because after taking them, only 4 difficulty levels will be free. But as Tiit already corrected, this is not valid, because especially in the case of easier sudokus, it is possible for two or more players to take first place in one difficulty level, i.e. do the same time every second. In my opinion, the best option for display would be a continuously updated table of the current day with the results of individual difficulty levels and perhaps also permanently saving the top 3 numbers, for example on the user's profile page with other sudoku statistics.

We can't have the same solution time. The calculation is accurate to one thousandth of a second. Whoever was ahead was also faster :)
