ee - now explain what is n and what is p :)
N-number of players P-place
Summary of the second day: In the morning, Andres played speed chess. There were about 40 participants because the South Korean delegation played along. Andres got 4 points out of a possible 6 and thought that it would be about 10th place. Me, Martin and Jaanus played backgammon. Martin got a decent 6th place out of 14, Jaanus and I shared the last two places between us. Jaanus was pretty good today. I got the only point of my tournament against him. In the evening session, Jaanus played 7 Wonders. And that's where Estonia's second medal came from - bronze! Andres, Martin and I tried our hand at poker (7 card stud). There were 23 participants in total. I came out 17th, Andres 16th, but Martin brought Estonia its first gold!! The results for Pentamind haven't been posted yet because the printer is broken. They should be available tomorrow. However, it seems that James Heppel is quite far ahead of the others at the moment, having won several medals. Tomorrow we will write a more detailed review of the state of pentamind ;)
I decided to skip this morning's session, as there is no real chance of getting decent points. I may skip the second session as well, if the French world names happen to show up at twixt, and save my strength for the London lowball in the evening. Other Estonians are in the running: Madli in abalone, Martin in backgammon and Jaanus in Puerto Rico.
Summary of today's first session: Madli got 60% in abalone, which should give her about 60 points. Martin had a bad start to backgammon and is halfway through with 1 point out of 3. Jaanus was unfortunately last at his board in the first round of Puerto Rico, the second round was currently underway. Both Martin and Jaanus will continue with the same area in the second session. Madli and I decided to skip the session and hope to post some pictures instead.
Congratulations on your individual medals! Hopefully you will also start to improve in the overall standings ;)
Summary of the third day: I can say about Abalone that I tied for 6th - 13th place out of 26. Martin's further tournament didn't go well at all. Jaanus tied for last place in his tournament. In the evening, all four of us played London Lowball. I was the first out again. There were 17 participants, I got 10th place, Andres 8th, Martin 4th this time and Jaanus got another medal, which is silver this time. The overall results are still not up anywhere, but considering that James Heppel won another gold today, it seems that he is already securing the Peantamind gold. Unfortunately, the pictures haven't been uploaded yet, more information about that tomorrow ;) We made some changes for tomorrow, namely Andres decided to participate in the morning session and play Mensa Connections, which Tim Hebbs showed him after he was eliminated from poker. In the afternoon and evening sessions, he will play Entropia. Martin and I will play Ticket to Ride, and Jaanus should play it too. In the evening, we will play poker again, where the secret is Omaha.
How many participants are there? Has it become more popular in previous years, or does it maintain a stable trend, where individual areas are very popular and many areas don't get more than 10 participants? Are there any new faces there?
There are still many new faces every year, but in the overall standings, the old players still come out on top, except for Martin of course. The popularity has rather increased - although parallel areas have been added, there are no fewer than 10 participants. Of course, another important piece of information for Tiidu: this year, for the first time, togyzkumalak is planned (inside joke - see the reviews of 2010 and 2011)!!!
Toguzkumalak is a very difficult game! Very difficult! :) Great then. Is this Czech guy here this time too? I think his name was Kotin?
