Checkers competitions in Pärnu County schools

Hello, Estonian checkers champions held a Russian checkers competition in schools that actively participated in the Checkers Olympiad in Pärnu County. From 11 to 14 April, the Estonian Championship in Russian checkers was held in Pärnu County. During this competition, last year's Estonian champion Argo Unnuk and multiple Estonian champion Arno Uutma visited two schools in Pärnu County to give simultaneous lessons. These schools were Pärnu Old Town Primary School and Surju Primary School. These two schools have also been active in the Estonian Checkers Olympiad organized by vint.ee and have achieved good results in the three stages so far. While none of the children could match last year's champion in the simultaneous lesson at Pärnu Old Town Primary School, the children had enough enthusiasm to compete with each other all day. At the opening of the student conference, Janek Mäggi, the president of the Checkers Association, said a few words of encouragement to the speakers, who advised all little Einsteins to be curious and not forget to play sometimes. At the simultaneous chess tournament held at Surju Primary School, 8th grade student Alex Tähemaa managed to fight off a draw in the first game against grandmaster Arno Uutma. As many as a quarter of the students from Surju Primary School participated. Chess training is also actively underway at the school.
