Hello, Today there are daily Russian checkers tournaments at 18:30. The other checkers tournaments take place during the week, but nothing happens on the weekend. Which checker game should be popularized? I would say international checkers, because it also has a lot of players in the world. I propose the following changes to the checker game: Every day at 20:00 there will be a 6-round international checkers tournament with a time control of 10 2. The tournament length would therefore be about 2 hours. The next most popular checker game is reverse checkers. Should a daily tournament be started for this too? For example, at 17:30 and the tournament duration 1 hour (so that Russian checkers would be finished by the time it starts). Time control 4 2 and 6 rounds? Or why not hold this tournament during the day at all - 14:00? Young people like this game. What to do with English and Brazilian checkers? Should they have regular tournaments at all? They could also be made to rotate daily at 10:00 PM... What do you think?
I think Russian checkers is still more popular than reverse checkers! Especially since the reverse checkers tournament is often canceled due to lack of participants. It seems that there are two popular checkers and they should be taken into account, they are international and Russian checkers. In other checkers, there should be no separate tournaments at all, but there should be a possibility to organize them if there are people who want to play?
The daily Russian checkers tournament must definitely remain. International checkers for everyday use? You can try for the purpose of popularization. At the same time, the 10 2 time control makes the tournament too long. It is not possible for many to find 2 hours of completely uninterrupted time every day. I don't know how many moves there are usually in international checkers, but if the 5 5 time control would keep the tournament time to a minimum, I would support it. I have no personal opinion on reverse checkers and English checkers, let those who play them speak. However, I am in favor of the preservation of Brazilian checkers. All Brazilian checkers tournaments have taken place in the last 1.5 months. There is no point in breaking up a working system.
I have to start experimenting. I will skip the 20:00 tournaments at the beginning and replace them with rv checkers. I will move the reverse checkers to the daytime (14:00). I will organize Brazil and England as and when it happens.
Your approach and attitude "...I'll organize as it happens" surprised me and not in a positive way. Do you really think that if we lose a specific day and time for Brazilian checkers tournaments, these tournaments will start happening? Brazilian checkers are played by a small but great group. Hardly anyone will start looking through the tournament list to find the day and time when Meikop happens to want to organize a specific tournament. Do we really need to start popularizing one type of checkers so extreme that the functioning tournament system (a different type of checkers every day) is completely broken and replaced with rv checkers? (starts to sigh) My wish is still for a Brazilian checkers tournament to take place at least once a week on a specific day and time. If there are no other options, then let it be on Wednesday at 20:00 for both rv and Brazilian checkers, at least there will be a choice for those who want what.
Once a week is not sustainable. Let it be a fixed time every day (I'm talking about Brazilian checkers now). 3 2 time controls and 5 rounds should make a half-hour quick tournament. Every day at 10:00 PM?
To further develop this idea: why shouldn't there be a tournament once a day in all checkers? And I'm talking about quick tournaments (duration 0.5 - 1 hour). 14:00 - Reverse Checkers 5 2 and 5 rounds (tournament duration approx. 1 hour) 16:00 - English Checkers 5 2 and 5 rounds (tournament duration approx. 1 hour) 18:30 - Russian Checkers 3 2 and 7 rounds (tournament duration approx. 1 hour) 20:00 - International Checkers 5 5 and 5 rounds (tournament duration approx. 1.5 hours) 22:00 - Brazilian Checkers 3 2 and 5 rounds (tournament duration approx. 0.5 hours) We don't have so many participants in tournaments that we would need 11 rounds to determine the best. Five rounds would be enough at the beginning. If more people start to show interest (also through mindoku), we will increase the number of rounds. How do you feel?
This last idea seems pretty good - shorter tournaments and a daily option. I'm not entirely sure about the times, but time will tell, and if possible, small changes can be made. However, I would personally like to know the opinion of those people who go to play in a Russian checkers tournament. Lately, I've found myself waiting for the tournament to start at 6:30 PM even before 6:00 PM. So, 6:00 PM would be a good time for me to start a Russian checkers tournament in the fall and winter, so that there would be a longer break between the two tournaments when playing an international tournament if necessary. At the same time, people are certainly already used to 6:30 PM, and perhaps this time is the most suitable for others. So, I'd like your opinion, Russian checkers tournament participants, would the current time of 6:30 PM be better for you, or could the tournament start at 6:00 PM?
A Russian checkers tournament would be suitable every day at 6:30 PM, I think it's the most popular. I also liked the Russian checkers tournament on Mondays starting at 8:00 PM. I think that tournaments for all checkers should remain, well, at a specific time and day.
I wonder who will be playing in the tournament starting at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
