The Estonian Fischer Chess Championship was held for the first time this weekend. The competitions took place in a naturally beautiful place - the Holstre-Polli Health Center. 21 competitors gathered there (3 women and 18 men). The most distant guests had traveled from St. Petersburg. Although Fischer Chess is quite new in Estonia, the results proved that people with a strong chess background are successful in this game: WGM Irina Sudakova, who traveled from afar, won the tournament - albeit with a narrow advantage over Meelis Kanepi: They had the same number of points, but Irina's coefficient was better. Since the Estonian championship title is won by a citizen of the Republic of Estonia, the top 3 (Estonians) of the tournament were: 1) Meelis Kanep 2) Gert Elmaste 3) Ants Vihmand The full tournament table can be seen here!
