Is poker a mind sport?

And I still don't understand what needs to be announced and trumpeted here, that in which game more thinking is needed and in which less, and why not accept flower arrangers with their ikebana. Thought activity, creativity and a competitive element are completely present there. Kaalux even has such a game Vinti
And this is what the FIDE president thinks about poker (6:12 ) http://www.tv3play.ee/play/260219 I share the opinion
posted by tsukts If you play about 60,000 hands in cash games every month at NL50 and you have recorded your results for the last three years and have not had a single negative month. Well, I'm still a lucky man.
then you probably just wait for your pocket aces all the time and you'll be hitting them all over the place. At least my experience shows that if you play and don't check all the time, the luckier ones will still take you into the red from time to time.
only about (from the beginning) why entropy was classified as a non-thought game. Now Tiit, be good and read my comment about the 10 games again and show me the place where I mention putting money in between. I said that I will compensate you for your time if... I didn't demand anything from you. Based on the link in Meikop, I have sad news for the common people, for me poker is not a sport and never has been. Without money (for promotional purposes) I don't play it voluntarily.
If you take the betting part out of poker, the outcome is still a pure roll of the dice. You can't really change the course of the game by thinking. It's more of a guessing game: is your hand better than your opponent's? If you think it is, you put your chips in.

I really liked that answer. But nails is a particularly crappy game, and here it's the most popular. And I watch and wonder how really smart players play it, as rarely as I've watched.
Nails are for when you don't want to or can't think. Playing a game in good company that doesn't require much effort is nice. Plus, you never know who will win. Smart people need relaxation too.
Some time ago, Allever was the first in the nail rating (after 20,000 games). Fortunately, in this game, in the long run, the more skilled players come out on top, and the lazy ones don't. The apparent simplicity of the game contributes to its popularity, and this is what makes the field attractive to beginners.
If we were to define the term "mind game", then poker would most likely fall on the border of this definition. Theoretically, it is possible that a person who has no idea of the rules of this game could be crowned the world champion of poker. In practice, however, a group has developed who go from tournament to tournament and win prizes. Are they really always so lucky that poker cannot be called a mind game? Or is the success of this group also due to experience and skill in playing (which in themselves seem to be criteria for a mind game)? In my opinion, poker is something between a mind game and a pastime game. However, if I were to answer specifically, I would consider poker to be a mind game. Why else have smart men included this field in the World Championship of Mind Games? :)
For me (maybe I'm too conservative) the mind game means that to reach a certain level you still have to work hard (theory, training, competitions, etc.), but poker is not like that, just make the rules clear to yourself and with some luck you can also be in the lead in EMV, and that too in the first tournament. I have been playing poker for over 4 years, and the more I play it, the more I am convinced that the share of luck is still significantly higher than people try to claim. When I start playing checkers with an opponent, I always think through the variants that I have played with this opponent before, i.e. where to steer the game, but in poker the analysis given does not give a result, because very little depends on you there, but the game is directed by the card race, which you cannot choose in any way! So my conclusion is that it is a pastime game - and a very enjoyable pastime game!
