We recently had a long-standing problem with the chess rankings and a certain user. If the name had been disclosed, this problem would not have existed. Disclosing the name also adds credibility to the game - Strong players are not ashamed of their identity, people are at the top of the rankings thanks to their skills. Anyone who still wants to play anonymously can make a different username. However, they cannot reach the top of the rankings with this username. I would also like to add that it was an afterthought - we will soon add a poll about it and ask people's opinions.

posted by blufar This disclosure of names could only include online mind sports olympiads or mind sports. In pastime games, it could only be with a username. The ranking of pastime games is not as important as the olympiads.
Yes, the idea is good - then the people at the top of the ranking of mind games (checkers, chess, gomoku) would be public. In card games, the disclosure of names is not important.

posted by Meikop There are measures against this - we show the name in the user profile only to other logged in users - then this information will not be visible to (google) robots.
I don't see a difference whether the information is visible only to logged in users or to everyone, anyone can create an account - the name is public in both cases.

Vindi's top doesn't currently show Vindi's actual top, only the top of the last two weeks. After the announcement, the top publicists of the last two weeks.

I also don't support the name being public. A person should still have some privacy. And I believe that you shouldn't do it without the person's consent... it could bring you trouble. For example, if the name is known, you can immediately go to the sin register, etc. and attack accounts everywhere. That won't work right away...

One option would be for those who were in the Top 10 of mind games to reveal their names only to the vint.ee team. Other users would not see them, but it would be easier to control.

Mistletoe. I will reveal my name here or when requested, I don't see any misunderstandings. You are absolutely right that this ranking is not important, if I want I can play without a ranking. I have worked really hard to make opening theories more or less clear and I really wouldn't want to waste time with a player who only knows the moves, but how can I recognize him if I don't see any characteristic level.

If so, then everyone's names will be made public. This is still discrimination against the toughest players. The result is that many will go play elsewhere or just give some random name.

In fact, this ranking doesn't really show the real level of a player. I've been in the top ten in several different places, but looking at the lists I know that it doesn't correspond to my actual level. Just good luck. Plus, my name has been public from the start, I'm not ashamed of it.
