Forbidden fruit

Three soldiers are guarding a classified military facility in France. They are forbidden to eat, drink, sleep, or play cards while on duty. Despite this, the men still play cards. An officer comes and the men throw the cards under the table. “Are you playing cards?” the officer asks. “We swear we didn’t play!” the soldiers reply. “What nationality are you?” the officer asks the first soldier. “Arab,” the soldier replies. “I swear on the Koran that I didn’t play!” The Arab swears. “What nationality are you?” the officer asks the second soldier. “French.” “I swear on the Bible that I didn’t play!” The Frenchman swears. “And what nationality are you?” the officer turns to the third soldier: “What does it matter, Captain?” the soldier replies. “If the first soldier didn’t play and the second soldier didn’t play, who did I get to play with?”

I actually agree with that! That was very clever of him. If that were true, I can't imagine how the captain would have reacted LOL. That would have been epic. The third one's answer was so accurate. Still, there are plenty of card games that can be played solo, so maybe there's still a nice chance for that.
