Estonians have identified 2 players who will directly qualify for the World Championship finals (among the 12 best players in the world), which will take place on 7-13.08.2009 in the Czech Republic. The full table can be viewed at http://renju.net/media/tourninfo.php?tournament_id=603 In a tense competition, Tunnet Taimla (golden in vindi) won first place, collecting 8 points out of 9 possible. Andry Purk (unfortunately, there is no user in vindi) came in second place with 7 points. Timo Ilu (allever) was third, also with 7 points. He has one more chance to qualify for the World Championship finals, at the international selection tournament to be held in the Czech Republic on 3-5.08., where in addition to him, Aivo Oll, Estonia's most successful renju player in 2008, will probably also represent Estonia. Aivo currently lives in China. Estonia's all-time best player, Ando Meritee, currently lives in Taiwan and unfortunately will not be coming to the World Cup at all.
