Marika Azojan and Raivo Rist become Russian checkers champions

On Sunday, the Estonian Speed Checkers Championship took place on a small board (64-r). Marika Azojan (Jõgeva Checkers Club) won the women's title with 19 out of 20 points. Kaari Vainonen (Lasnamäe KK) was second with 14 points and Piret Viirma (Järvamaa KK) was third after an extra match. Viirma defeated Janne Mumme (Nõmme KK) in the 3-4 place match. The competition at the top of the men's standings was significantly tighter. Raivo Rist became the Estonian champion with 21 points, followed by Andrus Tull (Järvamaa KK) with 20 points and Eerma Enno (Tartu) and Orme Kaul (Rakvere) with 19 points. In the third place match, Kaul defeated Eerma and won the bronze medal. Villem Lüüs (Lasnamäe KK), Arvo Rist (Hiiumaa KK) and Imre Anton (Nõmme KK) shared 5th-7th place with 18 points.
