Estonian Championship for Mini Cadets in International Checkers

The Estonian Mini Cadet International Checkers Championship took place over the weekend. Maria Jõesoo (Nõmme Checkers Club) won the girls' competition with 14 points, defeating all her opponents. Ketlin Õunap (Läänemaa) and Anneli Trees (Lasnamäe Male-Checkers Club) shared second and third place with 11 points. Among the boys (29 participants), Karl Jaagup Kase (Nõmme KK) and Andreas Tulva (Lasnamäe KK) fought hard for first place. A draw in their own game and six wins over their remaining opponents gave Kase the championship title. Tulva had to settle for a draw with Kristjan Hinno (Hiiumaa) in the penultimate game, narrowly finishing second with 12 points. Third and fourth place were shared with 10 points by Andreas Jürgenson and Antanas Zamulskis (both Nõmme KK). A better additional criterion gave third place to Jürgenson.
