In the Estonian MV mental sports pentathlon, which ended in Tallinn, at Lilleküla Gymnasium, Marek Kolk - Andres Kuusk won as expected and confidently, achieving first place in 4 out of 5 events. They were followed by Kalev Pagar - Ervins Veitsurs and Martin Hõbemägi - Villem Mesila. Raido Uibos-Tauri Purk missed out on bronze by only half a point. The youth cup competitions were also held. Here, the fifth place in the overall standings was also won by a large margin - Kuno Kolk - Argo Lillemaa. The second place was taken by Brenet Rahumägi - Kevin Kaido Kallikorm and the third place was taken by Kristofer Lõhmus - Georg Romet Topkin.

I apologize Raido, I was already so tired yesterday during checkers that I didn't understand which way the pieces were moving. I probably should have left posting the results until the morning. In addition to your excellent performance, you also have to be praised for bringing Tauri back to mind games:). At the bridge table, you at least pulled a decent bucket over my head in the last hand :). One pair was still very close to medals - Heiki Mänd-Ants Tulp. I'm writing about this also because Heiki has a serious health problem, but despite this, I think he performed very well. When it was discussed whether the competition should have been organized in Tallinn, in addition to the fact that many young people were playing, it gave Heiki-Ants the opportunity to come and participate. However, the next pairs tournament could perhaps be held in Pärnu or Rakvere, if, for example, Jaak Känd or Eino Vaher took over the valley. As for the individual tournament - Andres and I discussed that it could take place in Tartu at the beginning of June.

It also explains why Villem did sudoku alone - Martin was at the Physics Olympiad and from there he made it to the 5th round of the Mental Sports World Championship in chess - which turned out to be a free round for them... Otherwise they would have had the potential to win sudoku and get 4th-5th place in chess. In other areas, Villem-Martin did normally in bridge and went relatively well in checkers. Unfortunately, they were defeated as big favorites in gomoku. If they significantly improve their chess and checkers level in the future and also get their feet wet in bridge (at the moment, the gap between them and Kolk-Kuus in this area is still a mountain high, to put it mildly), then perhaps at some point they will start seriously competing with Marek and Andres. I did not do sudoku, because I did not plan to participate at all and wanted to focus on organizing the competition. Unfortunately, Kris Holtsman's partner Erko Olumets got sick and I became a fake school teacher, who unfortunately could not take us to a high place, although Kris tried hard.

Oh, thanks for the explanation, that's interesting to know. And I should even improve my bridge level, or rather create a level, because I've never played in my life, so I don't have a level ;D

Good idea, driv4r :) The level of bridge has been the weakest, at least in the mental sports tournaments I've participated in. Also, even a strong pair - like Kolk-Kuusk in bridge - is not easy to achieve success in a hall where extreme stupidity is done at other tables. This time, a full 28 hands were played, which was in the aces' favor, halfway through the tournament they were still far from first place.

Well, as a bridge ace, can you tell me the best site where it would be good to play for free (even for a noob like me)? ;)

To be honest, I don't play online and I need to find out where it would be good to play as a beginner. If you've never played before, it would of course be good to do it at the table for the first few times. Maybe in Kullo, for example, when you're coming after your Euroleague second place prize :)

Well, the problem with that is that I often don't get to Estonia for a year at a time, and sometimes even longer. Anyway, I'll let you know when I come.
