Hello, Yesterday the 10th Rendžu Team World Championships ended in Taipei (Taiwan). The Estonian team arrived with (recent world champion) Tunnet Taimla, Johann Lents, Martin Hõbemagi, Ants Soosõrv as captain and (four-time world champion!) Ando Meritee as a reserve player. The Rendžu World Championships have been held every two years since 1996. Historically, this competition has been dominated by Russia, which has become the team world champion in this field five times. Estonians also had high expectations because in 2008 the Estonian team won the world championship. The tournament did not start easily for the Estonians - in the first rounds they lost to both Russia and the 1st team of Taiwan. However, during the tournament our men managed to pull themselves together and with a strong final sprint they were ahead of the 1st team of Taiwan by only half a point in the final score! So it was done - Estonia became the 2nd Rendžu team world champion in history. Final results of the World Championships: 1. Estonia 27 2. Taiwan 26.5 3. Japan 1 21.5 4. Russia 20 5. Japan 2 15.5 6. Taiwan 2 9.5 Official website of the competitions: https://sites.google.com/site/10thrtwc/ Information about Renju and past World Championships: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renju Congratulations to all team members on a great achievement!

My congratulations to all the team members! Great achievement (Y) So Russia has won 5 team World Championships and Estonia now 2. Since I'm on my phone and a bit lazy at the moment, maybe someone can tell me who won the other 3 titles? And an interesting fact. I just found out a few days ago that my current colleague Aivo Oll is also a pro wrestler. Namely, he is also a former team world champion, individual European champion and multiple Estonian champion, etc.! :]

In 2010, China won, in 2012, Japan, in 1998, the title was not awarded, because due to a somewhat confusing situation in Armenia, only the Swedish team went there. Aivo is of course a very tough player :)

Yep, I happened to mention at work a few days ago that he was seriously working on it, to be honest, I had no idea! It's a small world...
