NB! As a result of the coordination of plans with the Estonian Chess Federation, this year's mind games competition will be held as a one-day event on July 19! Participants should be present at 10:30! The tournament will be held in a slightly shortened format: 6 rounds of chess and checkers, 25 questions in memory games and 20 hands in bridge. Old instructions: Estonian Mind Games Championship 2008 Tartu, Ülikooli Café, July 19-20, 2008 INSTRUCTIONS PURPOSE Sports-intellectual entertainment, during which the best Estonian mind games in individual multi-game competition will be identified. TIME AND PLACE The competition will be held on July 19-20, 2008 in Tartu, Ülikooli Café, Ülikooli 20, 3rd floor conference hall. The competition will start on Saturday, July 19 at 11:00. To do this, you need to create a user account in advance, which only takes a few minutes. The participation fee is 2 times higher when registering on site. COMPETITORS Anyone who has registered and paid the participation fee on time can participate. The participation fee is 100 EEK per player, 50 EEK for (students), and free for pensioners and people with disabilities. The entry fee is paid on site before the start of the competition. TOURNAMENT ORGANIZATION [i]General[/i] Competitions will be held in 5 disciplines: chess, checkers, bridge, memory game and solving sudoku. The overall ranking will be determined based on the total number of place points in the 5 disciplines. Place points will be distributed as follows: 1st place – 25 points, 2nd place – 23 points, 3rd place – 21 points, 4th place – 20 points, 5th place – 19 points, 6th place – 18 points, …, 23rd place – 1 point. Depending on the number of participants, the place point system may change. [i]Schedule[/i] The competition will start on July 19 at 11 am, the first discipline is a memory game. A checkers and bridge tournament will also be played on Saturday. The approximate end of the competition is on Saturday at 7 p.m. On Sunday, July 20, the competition will start at 10 a.m. with solving Sudoku puzzles against time. The last competition area is chess, scheduled for around 11 a.m. The competition will end approximately at 3 p.m. [i]Memory game[/i] In the memory game, you must answer 30 questions from different areas. The game takes place in blocks of 5-6 questions, with 5 minutes to answer each block. [i]Checkers[/i] Russian checkers is played in the Swiss system for 7 rounds. Depending on the number of participants (up to 10 participants), the tournament can also be held in a round robin system. The thinking time is 10 minutes per game for each opponent. In the event of equal points, a progressive coefficient (the sum of the points after the round with extensions) is taken into account. [i]Bridge[/i] An individual tournament with 20-28 divisions is played for maxi. The exact number of divisions and the tournament system depends on the number of participants. [i]Sudoku[/i] 10 sudokus of different difficulty levels must be solved within a given time limit. Points are only awarded for completely correctly solved sudokus, while more points can be earned for more difficult sudokus. In the event of a tie, time will decide. The sudokus have been compiled by Rauno Pärnits, one of Estonia's most recognized specialists in this field. [i]Chess[/i] The competition will be held in the Swiss system with 7 rounds. Depending on the number of participants (up to 10 participants), the tournament may also be held in a round robin system. The thinking time is 15 minutes per game for each opponent. In the event of equal points, a progressive coefficient (the sum of the points after the round with extensions) will be considered. AWARDS The winner of the competition will be awarded the Estonian championship medal, the 2nd and 3rd place winners will be awarded silver and bronze medals, respectively, and the 4th-10th place winners will be awarded a diploma. Special prizes include a trophy for the best woman and the best veteran. Cash prizes depend on the number of participants, the 1st place prize is at least 1000 EEK, the 2nd place prize is at least 600 EEK and the third place prize is at least 400 EEK. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the best woman and the best veteran. Additional special prizes may be awarded by the organizers. The winner of each area will be awarded special medals. GENERAL All problems that arise that are not covered in the instructions will be resolved on site by the decisions of the head judge and assistant judges.
