Hello! The European Championship in Snooker will be held in St. Petersburg from 28.07.-2.08. The final tournament will feature 26 players from 6 countries, with 9 rounds played in the Swiss system. Estonians are represented by Tunnet Taimla, who recently became the world champion with the Estonian team at the team World Championship (in addition, the 2003 individual world champion, who performs in snooker under the name "golden"), Aivo Oll and Andry Purk. Andry defeated Björn Wallgren (Sweden) and Russian Konstantin Nikonov in the first rounds. Aivo was better than Marcus Eriksson (Sweden) and Vladimir Filinov. Both Estonians are sharing 1st-6th place after 2 rounds. Tunnet Taimla tied with Pavel Makarov (Russia) in the opening round and then defeated another Russian, Karen Sirategjan, now sharing 7th place. You can follow the tournament table yourself at http://renju.net/media/tourninfo.php?tournament_id=474
doesn't seem particularly exciting.. a bunch of Russians, a few Azerbaijanis, Uzbeks and then Estonians and Swedes on the side.irw
Blaa's ironic remark could be answered by saying that well, if you look at geography, then there were probably times in chess when representatives of almost only one country - the USSR - played at the top. In fact, of course, there is a problem (blaa, by the way, did not mention the Ukrainians), it is played practically only in Eastern and Central Europe (Hungarians, Czechs and Poles will also come from Europe to the Youth World Championship in Haapsalu, which starts on 3.08.) in addition to Sweden and Finland
Well, that's what I meant, the Czechs and Finns were present at the team event. But their absence this time is probably due to the fact that since they don't have any special opportunities anyway, they don't bother going through the hassle of visas and spending money. The results page is down. Did Estonia still win?
