I changed the algorithm today: Easy and medium became easier. The 8x8 easy daily crossword is still generated with the old algorithm, the others should already be with the new one. From the algorithm: Difficulty levels used in generation in order: Easy: 1-3 (mixed), 5, 8 Medium: 5-8 (mixed), 13, 3, 2, 1 Hard: 40-13 (mixed), 8, 5, 3, 2, 1 I think that before spring we will not see a day when the wording of the question or the level of difficulty in the daily crosswords should not be improved. But someday that day will come!
I started going through the difficulty levels one by one. Difficulty levels 1 and 2 should be fine now. The rest will take time. At least a month. I think I'll eliminate difficulty level 40 and delete words that can't be found on Google - are they even needed in Vint's crosswords? In addition, I'll delete all questions that concern: 1) Poisons (alcohol, tobacco, drugs) 2) Omissions 3) Intimate body parts 4) Derogatory remarks (For example, the question was "Jew in a derogatory manner") Vint.ee crosswords will be educational. Extensive knowledge in the field of alcohol and obscenities can be demonstrated elsewhere.
I'm currently reviewing the level 8 questions and thought I'd set a few more rules for the questions: 1) I'll delete former geographical names (villages, rivers). Basically - if Google Maps doesn't show them, we don't need them either. 2) Estonian is a beautiful language, but if the EKI has a note hrv or AJL next to it, i.e. rarely used or historical, then I'm not sure if these words are needed in vint.ee crosswords. One good example: Love - lemme. 3) There's also a problem with cultural figures - journalists, writers, who I've never heard of at least. Why do these journalists have such an important job that they should be asked in crosswords? Maybe then they'd also ask Teachers or Doctors? 4) And I'm trying to maintain some kind of decency/style. "Little man - manly man" is not OK
Love poetry is a completely modern word.
The word "lembe" comes from the word "lembe", not "lemme". By the way - every day, when I solve a crossword puzzle, I find new ideas for questions in the answers, which I then enter. For example, we have a question about roofing material - blekk. Blakk is also a stain or money (in slang). Or, for example, the answer "aiad" - the word "aiand" came to mind. I also invite other solvers to solve crossword puzzles with an open mind and find / enter new questions! PS! If I ever finish reviewing the questions, I will increase the price of the entered questions - 1 question - 1 credit. But the credit will be received only after I have reviewed the question and confirmed that it is suitable for us.

771) I will delete the former geographical names (villages, rivers). Basically - if Google Maps doesn't show it, we don't need them either./ In my opinion, it's not the right approach... It's about the same as if you're not on the internet (on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), you don't exist. Soon counties will disappear, many will disappear and new rural municipalities will appear, the concept of a city will become suspicious and they will also disappear from Google Maps... History cannot be deleted, but on the contrary, it must be preserved. Simply because of the relatively limited format of the question here, you have to think carefully about how to ask it. In short, you could say that there are no wrong answers, but there are wrong questions. For me, the completely wrong questions are: "Village in Estonia", "Mammal", "Tree", etc. Significantly better options in parallel: "Village in Rapla County" (so what, there are a lot of them :D), Australian mammal, "Tropical tree", etc. Rare, historical synonyms could still be included, but the question should contain a hint. Of course, the difficulty level is also a certain hint, because the questioner must take into account the physical space of the question. Journalists are still in many ways public figures, just like politicians and cultural figures, etc., but in the case of lesser-known or former ones, the question could still contain a hint, because most people really don't even know half of the members of the Riigikogu, let alone, for example, the deputy chairman of the Suure-Jaani rural municipality council, if the question calls him a politician. We could certainly ask more about the better-known representatives of each profession, as we expect in sports questions. The example given by Meikopi on the topic of "stain" would bring a similar answer of "cardboard", for which I would definitely find 5 question options :) I am happy to join the call: come solve and think along - we will all become smarter :)
Hi, We have reached a point where the most difficult questions (13 and 20 difficulty levels) account for 50% of all questions. So at the moment we are no longer giving credit for entering difficult questions - we need easier questions!
The form for entering crossword questions can now be found under the crossword game area!
I went through over 750 male and female names and tried to find famous people in the questions. So instead of "Male name: Tanel" the question is now "... Padar: Tanel" Or instead of Male name: Tunne, it's "... Kelam: Tunne" There are only 500 male and female names left. I hope it got better
