Yesterday was a historic day for Estonian mind sports: Andres Kuusk was crowned the world mind sports champion! Andres won the gold medal in the English checkers, poker and boku tournament. The Vint.ee team wishes Andres good luck!

In addition to Vint, there is a good summary of the competitions here: http://www.studiogiochi.com/p/MindSportsOlympiad.html. The text is in Italian, but the pictures are also quite telling.

Didn't you take the pictures yourself? I'd put them on the Facebook page.

We did take pictures, dozens of them. Unfortunately, Kertu's camera and my computer weren't compatible, otherwise it would have been good to upload them straight away. But they are there and if Kertu finds a computer that is compatible with the camera, they will be uploaded.

Wouldn't it be time, when we have such a powerful world champion, to organize a powerful mind games propaganda tour in Estonia? I remember from my childhood how excited I was when Valter Heuer conducted the chess tour "From Pawn to King!". If I could find sponsors, I would organize ETV and organize the introduction of various mind games and simulcasts around Estonia. I believe that there are many friends of mind games in places who would be willing to help. The main speaker would of course be Andres Kuusk, but it is certainly possible to find assistants/supporters for him. Such an event would be especially welcome in smaller secondary schools and gymnasiums, and in the form of vint.ee we also have an outlet for new interested parties. A mind games school not only in Tallinn Kullo, but also in Võhma, Lihula, Torma and Rõngu!

Sounds like a great idea. It would definitely be a necessary event to promote mind sports. It's just not clear whether sponsors will find it attractive, especially in the current bear market. If there were sponsors who would at least cover the costs, then touring with Vint's team would be both useful and fun.

A summary of the World Mind Sports Organisation's own website can be found here http://www.boardability.com/article.php?id=10. As you can see, Kertu is also quite a star :). The newsletter published by the same organisation: http://ymlp.com/zHnezM.
