The best mental athletes in Estonian schools 2016/2017

Hello, 871 students from 74 schools participated in the Mental Sports Olympiad in the 2016/2017 academic year. The most students participated from Narva Vanalinn State School - 48. Today we are publishing the results of the overall ranking. Primary School 40 students from primary schools participated in all disciplines. The best mental athlete was Albert Pedmanson from Rakvere Vanalinn School, collecting 1134 points (the runner-up came in chess). Albert's brother Herman Pedmanson from Tartu Waldorf Gymnasium came in second place, collecting 1071 points and taking the runner-up in Sudoku. The third place was Jaak Andero Aasav from Tallinn 32nd Secondary School, collecting 990 points. See the overall primary school results here! Primary school 68 students participated in all disciplines. The best mental athlete in the primary school category is Ardi Raag from Tallinna Reaalkool, collecting 1049 points. Second place was taken by Mark Basarab from Peetri Lasteaed-Põhikoool, collecting 1016 points. Third place was taken by Karl-Ustav Kõlar from Tallinna Reaalkool, collecting 915 points. It is worth noting that none of the top three won any discipline - they were consistently strong in all disciplines. See the overall results of the basic school here! High school 15 students participated in all disciplines. The best mental athlete in the high school was Martin Hõbemägi from Tallinn Real School (collecting 1090 points), who has also achieved good results in adult mental sports competitions. Martin also won one discipline - Gomoku. Equal points (1074) were collected in the overall classification by Rene Lumiste from Tallinn Real School and Georg-Romet Topkin from Tallinn French Lyceum. The additional criterion (sum of places) gave Rene a narrow victory, who took 2nd place in the overall classification, and Georg-Romet came in third.
