3-4. January 2009 Vint.ee will organize the Estonian Mind Games Multi-Competition Pairs Championship in Tartu. PURPOSE: Sports-intellectual entertainment, during which the best of Estonia in mind games multi-competition pairs will be identified. At the same time, the preservation of a tradition that is several decades old in its original form. TIME AND PLACE: The competition will be held on 3-4.01.2009 at the Tartu Vocational Education Centre, at Kopli 1. The competition starts on Saturday, 3.01 at 11.00. ORGANIZER: Vint.ee, Estonian Mind Games Multi-Competition Association. PRE-REGISTRATION: Prior registration is required for participation. 1. COMPETITORS All those who wish to participate who have registered and paid the participation fee on time can participate. The participation fee is 125 EEK per player, 25 EEK for (students), pensioners and disabled people. The participation fee is paid on site before the start of the competitions. TOURNAMENT ORGANIZATION General Competitions will be held in 5 disciplines: chess, Russian checkers, bridge, memory game and Sudoku solving. All disciplines will be played in pairs and the score will be kept for pairs. The overall ranking will be determined based on the total number of place points in the 5 disciplines. Place points will be distributed as follows: 1st place – 16 points, 2nd place – 14 points, 3rd place – 12 points, 4th place – 11 points, 5th place – 10 points, 6th place – 9 points, …, 14th place – 1 point. The place point system may change depending on the number of participants. [i]Schedule[/i] The competitions will start on January 3 at 11:00, the first discipline is a memory game. On Saturday, a chess and bridge tournament will also be played. The approximate end of the competitions is on Saturday at 7 p.m. On Sunday, January 4, the timed Sudoku solving will start at 10:00. The last area of the competition is Russian checkers at around 11 a.m. The competition will end approximately at 3 p.m. [i]Memory game[/i] In the memory game, you must answer 30 questions from different areas. The game takes place in blocks of 5-6 questions, with 5-6 minutes to answer each block. [i]Chess[/i] The competition will take place in 7 rounds in the Swiss system. Depending on the number of participants (up to 10 participants), the tournament may also take place in a round robin system. Each team (pair) must determine the order of the boards in advance, which cannot be changed during the tournament. Game points are taken into account, i.e. the results 1-1, 2-0 and 1.5-0.5 are possible. The thinking time is 15 minutes per game for each opponent. In case of equal points, a progressive coefficient is taken into account (the sum of the points after the round with extensions). [i]Bridge[/i] A 24-round doubles tournament is played for maxi. The exact tournament system depends on the number of participants. [i]Sudoku[/i] Up to 10 sudokus of different difficulty levels must be solved within a given time limit. It does not matter which team member solves which sudoku. Points are only awarded for completely correctly solved sudokus, while more points can be earned for more difficult sudokus. In case of a tie, time decides. The sudokus have been compiled by Rauno Pärnits, one of Estonia's most recognized specialists in this field. [i]Checkers[/i] Russian checkers is played in the Swiss system for 7 rounds. Depending on the number of participants (up to 8 pairs), the tournament can also be held in a round robin system. Each team (pair) must determine the order of the tables in advance, which cannot be changed during the tournament. Game points are taken into account, i.e. the results 1-1, 2-0 and 1.5-0.5 are possible. The thinking time is 10 minutes per game for each opponent. AWARDS The 3 best pairs of the competition will be awarded a medal and a cash prize. Those who achieved 4th - 6th place will be awarded a diploma. The exact cash prizes depend on the number of participants, the prize for 1st place is at least 1200 EEK. A special prize is for the best female pair. Additional special prizes may be awarded at the decision of the organizers. GENERAL All problems that arise that are not covered in the instructions will be resolved on site by the decisions of the head judge and assistant judges. I would also add that it is worth coming to participate in any case. It is a fun experience and you will gain knowledge in different areas. I went last year for the first time and was very satisfied. And you shouldn't worry about it if you don't know some areas... there are very few people who know everything :)
