Hello,

We want to move towards transparency. We want people to dare to play under their own name.
We would like at least official tournaments/tournament series to be played under our own name.
The ability to play anonymously in the game room will remain in parallel (you just need to create another user).

The current situation, where some users have made their names public while others create a new user an hour before the tournament, is not sustainable, something needs to change in this regard.

My suggestion: We introduce the term verified user . (Maybe someone has a better term to suggest).
A verified user can see their real name and country in their profile.

Tournaments will have an additional checkmark: for verified users only .
This means that the tournament creator can choose whether to allow anonymous users or only verified users to participate in their tournament.

I don't think it should be used in podkidnoi tournaments, but this condition would apply to all vint.ee chess and checkers tournament series .

In addition, we can think of different ways to implement this innovation in the future:
  • Ability to accept invitations to the game room only from verified users
  • Only verified users can access the leaderboard.
  • Rating changes only in games between two verified users
  • When creating a topic in the forum, you can allow only verified users to comment.
These are just thoughts at the moment about where we could get to someday. And I believe we will get there someday. We may lose in quantity of users and games, but we will definitely gain in quality.

How do we verify users?
In fact, a lot of work has already been done on this. For starters, I can verify thousands of users who have ever participated in a few hours:
  • At the Mental Sports Olympiad
  • In official chess series (For example, the spring Rainer Rau chess series)
  • At international tournaments organized by the Kapellmeister
Other users must send an e-mail to [email protected] for verification, if desired, and disclose their real name. This name will then be made public on the user's profile.

Thoughts?

I'll add some more good thoughts - for a while only verified users will be able to communicate in the game room and forum.

This way we can get rid of this anonymous curse and the "Swamp Palm vs. Horseman" sagas.

If you want to speak, speak under your own name.

Thought - done!

We already have over 6700 verified accounts !

Additionally, user profiles already show who is verified (just look at my account). This is a preliminary design, it will get better soon.

Anyone who wants to verify themselves can write to me!

The problem of names in the tournament table will also be fixed:
Today, everyone's full name is displayed in the leaderboard, and users can write anything there.

In the future, only verified users will have their full names displayed in the leaderboard, while others will only have their username displayed.

I agree with that makeup.

What does it mean, it won't reach me?

This morning I posted updates:
  1. Everyone can see how to verify their account in their profile.
  2. Verified users are segregated in the large hall and game rooms
  3. It is possible to create tournaments that only verified users are allowed to enter
  4. Only verified and VIP users can communicate in the chat room and forum.

And, period, no 20 or so votes in favor. Pure mouthing. Writers can use pseudonyms, even during the Soviet era. Long live the true Aryans! All innovations should still be carried forward somewhere. Chewing on your feeding hand or sawing off the branch you're sitting on doesn't exactly show special talent. I mean those VIPs who don't want to present themselves publicly...

VIPs don't have to verify themselves.

In addition, you can create one verified account to play official tournaments with and another VIP account to play cards anonymously.

In that case, a VIP wouldn't be able to write on the forum or make suggestions to improve the game - there's no logic!
