it's more of a consideration that you can increase the difficulty up to a certain age, but you can play checkers at a high level even at the age of 80. But there were and always have been serious opponents. see: http://www.kabeliit.ee/index.php/Kaido_Leesmann it turns out that only 5 of these titles have been won in competitions with normal time control; 2006 is the last of them, but for example Urmo Ilves became Estonian champion for the 7th time in 2002 and Raivo Rist for the 10th time in 2008. The latter of them has also repeatedly become Estonian champion in Russian checkers. Of course, all of the above does not mean that Kaido is a weak player, quite the opposite, a very strong player, and not only physically :)
