Some have already solved it, there's a small mistake: if you mean a chemical element, then the correct one is lanthanum; it's not bad, but sometimes that 1 letter causes confusion, because the answer is LA and if you automatically put LE, you can search for a long time later. "Lentaan" doesn't really give any equivalent in Estonian; you could then take e.g. "lendan fino me k." and the answer is "lennän" :D

I once came across a page of the latest crossword questions and answers entered through links and I will mention a couple of striking things: there are some direct errors: e.g. jaol does not mean "sharing", but on the contrary, "getting"; there are also questionable questions: e.g. the answer to anuma is "utensil". This is an extremely vague connection. Obviously, a drinking vessel can be defined as a drinking vessel, but in general all objects in the world can be called utensils. And in crosswords, people usually do not tend to ask questions like nail->utensil and coffee pot->utensil. And one more thing: there are quite a few repeated stems in the questions and answers, this is not considered a particularly good style: e.g.: witches' sabbath->witches' party, demand->demand, storyteller->story, etc. At this point, it would be more professional to simply say sabat or walpurg, (urgent) desire or hand fist prayer, rake or haymaker. Otherwise, there were quite a few nice finds for those who deal with these questions on a daily basis. strength.

Thanks for the feedback, we can now start working more seriously on the quality of the questions because I just posted the so-called final version - a 13x8 crossword. It currently generates an average of 1.5 seconds, so it should be tuned a little better. We also need to find a way to inform the user that the solution is not correct. At the moment, you have to guess it yourself if the game doesn't end. The minimum font size is currently 9, which is readable. However, in the case of a particularly long question, the question may run slightly over the edges of the square. We need to think of something. At some point, all these questions will have to be reviewed again, too easy questions removed, and the wording of the questions improved. Each question should also be given a difficulty level (easy, medium, hard). This way we can start generating crosswords of different difficulty levels. In addition, each question should also be given a topic (sports, history, geography) so that one day we can also start generating thematic crosswords. Of course, this could be done by an expert, it seemed, who would be willing to help us. We are not currently working on crossword puzzle solving times/rankings, crosswords come with different levels of difficulty each time anyway. The question entry process will remain, and I think we could have 100,000 questions/answers someday. Next, I will start crossword tournaments. After that, the question remains whether duels and a daily crossword are also needed.

There could be information whether the crossword has been solved or the answer is wrong...it was like that in the previous version.

I thought up the difficulty level so much that the classic three-point scale (easy, medium, hard) is not enough. This scale needs to be more flexible. I propose a scoring system as follows (with examples): 1 point (no thinking required) : Rome 1 - i 2 points (The answer is known to everyone by length or one letter) : Ilmakaar - Read 3 points - (A well-known word that can be guessed if a few letters are known all translation questions): Male name - Mikk / Nina Eng. k. - nose 5 points - (Commonly known phrase simple geographical questions) : Fail - Luhtuma / City in Europe - Dublin 8 points - (Fact that is mostly known): OM 1994 - Lillehammer 13 points - (Answer that most people cannot be expected to know by heart but which is relatively easy to google): Capital of Yemen - Sana 20 points - (More complicated fact that is not easy to google / you have to search separately from Google results): City in Latvia - aizpute 40 points - (Answer that cannot be guessed even if 1 letter is missing and which is very difficult to google): Fish - darter Comments?

But if you don't want to collect points and just solve it for fun, that could be an option.

No, the points are still there to provide easy/medium/difficult crosswords.

There are also similar words that can lead you astray. I once went to a crossword puzzle competition and was asked for a city in Russia with six letters. The last three letters quickly came up -KVA. As a proper Seto, I quickly wrote PIHKVA. And there it went... I guess the length of the words should also be taken into account when determining the difficulty level. If the name of the fish is still noorkuukällnurg, then try to figure it out, not to mention Googling. Prof. Mikita has said, among other things, that the greatest value is in phenomena that cannot be Googled.

.../Prof. Mikita has said, among other things, that the greatest value is in phenomena that cannot be googled/ I completely agree, in the sense that if you have to search longer and suffer, you will remember them better :) . Nowadays, simpler answers can really be found too quickly and forgotten just as quickly. I remember, for example, book calendars from my childhood, with all sorts of exciting puzzles and European countries and capitals at the back (including population figures and other data), which I knew by heart in first grade and still remember; more countries have just been added :) . At the same time, due to the political bias of education, I still can't guess the location of US cities on a map... Decent reference books (ENE, ENEKE, A&O, etc.) reached the masses later; around the mid-70s and were mandatory literature for many Estonians, and there was no harm in spending money on them!! The memory game was appreciated, the few available crosswords were solved individually and in groups, and there were none as easy as those available nowadays; we were even happy to solve puzzles that had been left unfinished by someone. With this system, we could/should create crosswords of varying difficulty, but it's not worth overdoing it - it's good if with each variant some nice new knowledge comes up and is remembered :) . Google also has a print option - so in principle it's still a good thing :D
