Vint.ee's plans for 2013

Hi, Last night Jaanus and I had a little brainstorming session and figured out what to do with Vint and Mindoku in 2013. I'll write these thoughts down here so I don't forget them:) 1) Merging the Vint.ee and Mindoku databases (May 2013) We are merging the Vint.ee and Mindoku databases. The goal is to bring life to Mindoku. What this update entails: a) All online users and games in Vint will also be visible in Mindoku, b) Foreign players will appear in the Vint.ee game rooms. c) However, we distinguish between Vint.ee users (Estonians) and foreign players: Vint.ee leaderboards only show Vint.ee users, it is also possible to view general leaderboards separately, which also include mindoku users (foreigners). d) We are reopening the 4-row, Othello, Entropia and Lines Of Action game room in Vint.ee. e) All tournaments held in mindoku are also visible in Vint. f) Vint.ee official tournaments are also visible in Mindoku. When a user enters a tournament in the Vint.ee environment, they can choose whether the tournament is only for Vint.ee users or visible in the Mindoku environment as well. g) Vint.ee and mindoku forums will remain separate h) Game comments and scores will be visible in both environments (comments in other languages may appear under games) 2) Opening a new game environment in Mindoku and Vint (June 2013) Jaanus has done a good job and created a new platform (javascript) that works in all environments - on mobile phones, tablets, all operating systems. No more Java Applets! Today, Othello, Sudoku, Gomoku, Pente and Rendzu are supported on this platform. We will open this new game space in both Vint.ee and mindoku environments (this will lead to the closure of the Sudoku, Gomoku and Othello APPLET game space - users will be able to play these games on the new platform). Also, tournaments for these games will be visible only on the new platform (no longer on the tournaments page) 3) Moving the most popular mind games to the new platform (September 2013). The goal is to move all checkers, chess and Fischer chess to the new platform so that next year's inter-school mental sports Olympiad will no longer require the use of applets (students have had constant problems with applets). This change will lead to the closure of the checkers room and chess room APPLET solution, and you will also be able to participate in checkers and chess tournaments in a new new room / platform, no longer on the tournaments page. 4) Moving all games to the new platform (January 2014). We will start with the most popular games (card games) until we have moved all games to the new platform. Once the game is transferred to the new unified space, we will close the APPLET game space for this game.

Glad to see that the vint.ee team continues to be so hardworking, active, and innovative! Keep going!

These updates are all really welcome, if it works properly! (y) I assume that Vint will then also be available in English, otherwise it will be a bit difficult for foreigners?

Foreigners use Mindoku, which is in English. The Mindoku and Vindi game rooms are connected.

Or so! So pmst Mindoku will remain as separate sites, just that they can see in the game rooms those who are in the Vint game rooms and can play with them and vice versa?

Will the mysterious child geniuses remain on the sudoku leaderboard? There's no plan, but I'll ask anyway. I have nothing (especially) against children, but - yes, I satisfy myself with sudoku and it's all the more pleasant to have a lot of points and a high place in the leaderboard. If some Minnies and Manns have huge points, but the record time for games can be measured with a calendar, then it makes me sad. After all, I'm selfish. Thank you!

And this rating issue should really be a goal. I think ideas have been proposed on this topic somewhere in the forum.
