We want to move towards transparency. We want people to dare to play under their own name.
We would like at least official tournaments/tournament series to be played under our own name.
The ability to play anonymously in the game room will remain in parallel (you just need to create another user).
The current situation, where some users have made their names public while others create a new user an hour before the tournament, is not sustainable, something needs to change in this regard.
My suggestion: We introduce the term verified user . (Maybe someone has a better term to suggest).
A verified user can see their real name and country in their profile.
Tournaments will have an additional checkmark: for verified users only .
This means that the tournament creator can choose whether to allow anonymous users or only verified users to participate in their tournament.
I don't think it should be used in podkidnoi tournaments, but this condition would apply to all vint.ee chess and checkers tournament series .
In addition, we can think of different ways to implement this innovation in the future:
- Ability to accept invitations to the game room only from verified users
- Only verified users can access the leaderboard.
- Rating changes only in games between two verified users
- When creating a topic in the forum, you can allow only verified users to comment.
How do we verify users?
In fact, a lot of work has already been done on this. For starters, I can verify thousands of users who have ever participated in a few hours:
- At the Mental Sports Olympiad
- In official chess series (For example, the spring Rainer Rau chess series)
- At international tournaments organized by the Kapellmeister
